[Rumor] Google is ready for the console market with Ouya
What happens when the minds behind One Laptop per Child, Xbox, Peek, Color, and IGN join forces? You get the next generation of gaming console, but it is unlike anything that has come before it. This rumored $99 Android console called Ouya will connect to a TV and deliver a completely FREE gaming experience to everyone. How the hell will this work?
Well for $99, customers will be able to play anything and publish anything, so long as it’s free. In fact, the AngelList post claims that the hardware is meant “to be hacked”, with every customer getting a dev kit with their purchase. We still don’t have all the details or even know if this is real, but based on the Internet buzz; I bet Google will be making this announcement official soon enough.

Holy shit! If this thing actually exists, this could make video games and video game development even MORE accessible. This is the perfect step forward toward people finally accepting games as Art! =D

Sounds like total bull shit to me.
How is this gonna make them money AFTER everyone has one?
some_other_guy
Google is also behind it so I doubt money will actually be a problem. And there will be a ton of ads to bring in more money.

isnt' that just newgrounds on ur tv?
The Theory
nope, it's lamegrounds. you have to pay for the console as well as have ads bombarded towards you. Nope, I have newgrounds, kongregate, miniclip, etc. I don't need a cheap cash in with a poor "developer software"...

the reality of this is really funny if you think about it. 10-20 years ago this might have been cool, but the a-holes and trolls on the internet these days would ruin this so fast.

Oh god, I can see all the ads and pop-ups already....
