[Rumor] It looks like there was a new Battlefront game
Modders are finding all sorts of information digging through video game code these days. Sure you have the DLC on disc or full roster via a demo, but how about assets for cancelled games? I guess some people already knew this, but apparently Slant Six Games was working on a new Battlefront back in 2010. It was eventually cancelled, but some assets from the project have popped up in a rather unlikely place. A Betagames.org user claims to have found a bunch of Battlefront images on the disc for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.
Thanks to NeoGAF, the word has spread like wild fire. Yeah the latest game from Slant Six and published by Capcom has nothing to do with Star Wars. So it seems strange that these assets would end up as part of the RE code. Maybe it was the easiest way for some employees to get the word out. Battlefront was being worked on by Free Radical at one point after Slant Six, but is now rumored to be helmed by Spark Unlimited. Maybe this will help create the buzz needed to get another Battlefront game out on store shelves. Here are those assets.

Bummer.....I would have definitely enjoyed to play Battlefront 3.
I have a feeling that this was rumored since Battlefront 2 came out. And now with Pandemic gone... Dammit, Sean! Stop reminding me of what would have been! ;~;
lol. No big deal.
so this pretty much means slant six won't be making games for a long time
this will be a great idea to bring back but it need to have a good team on it and you know many will buy it and i would like to see all the cool innovations that can be put into the game
These screen shots look awesome. Its a matter of time until Battlefront rises again. It was one of their biggest money makers, they can't simply leave it alone.
I was going to dismiss this as a prank but it's april 2nd now...........
Whoops didn't realize the goof up I made when making that reply.
I remember this. It was suppose to have galactic and planetary battles in one map and you could freely fly anywhere to participate in the fight. Barely an day after that, they got bought up by a new company who proceeded to f-ck that thing up by adding a loading screen between them instead. Then it was never heard of again.
It is in one of the very very old and amongst hte first of the Hard News episodes.
No battlefront...this makes me a sad panda.
Why is there battlefront items on a Resident Evil disk?
Why would these be on the disc of ORC?
April fools right?! RIGHT?! ;(
Good news, there IS a Battlefield 3. We, unfortunately, cannot say the same for Battlefront III. :(
Battle front would make a great online multiplayer game! Either they have full up scale graphics and a great campaign, or they make it multiplayer only and make it a downloadable game with HD graphics from the old two games
at least slant six isnt making the new battlefront
Blows my mind that Battlefront III hasn't seen the light of day yet. Apparently Lucasarts doesn't like money.
Imagine online multiplayer team-based Star Wars battles. Tons of worlds and battlefields to fight on, tons of gameplay modes, online co-op, customizable weapons and armor, dozens of jedi, clones, droids, mercenaries, bounty hunters, sith, and others to choose from. There's SO MUCH potential for Battlefront III on current gen consoles.
But no, they're too busy making Star Wars Kinect and crappy Clone Wars games. Again, apparently Lucasarts doesn't care about making money any more. I guarantee Battlefront III would sell a couple million units in its first WEEK of sales. Seriously, who WOULDN'T buy this??
This was what? The 4th time this game has been canceled.
Battlefield 3, hopefully it would have more than movie stuff: Mandalorians, Sith Empires, The Old Republic and Yuuzhang Vong.
