[Rumor] It looks like YouTube will soon be buying Twitch for $1 billion in cash!

Twitch and YouTube are ready to become the exclusive home to all the video game livestreams you can handle. Sources speaking to Variety say Google has a winning bid out to buy the streaming platform for $1 billion CASH and the acquisition rumored to be announced immediately. While still not official, should the deal go through, it would be the biggest in YouTube history or at least since Google acquired YouTube in 2006.

Between 45 million monthly users and accounting for the fourth highest amount of internet traffic in the US, Twitch is at the peak of its game and is only getting bigger. They recently opened a UK office and over the last six months launched their service on both the PS4 and Xbox One, which should solidify their future in the console gaming space.

I look forward to Google figuring out how to content ID every video game livestream on the network, without destroying the entire platform.
