[Rumor] Nintendo trying to buy the Banjo-Kazooie franchise

An anonymous tipster has stated that Nintendo is in negotiations with Microsoft to buy Rare for the soul purpose of gaining the Banjo-Kazooie  franchise.

Editor's Note: I hope this is true. I really, really do. Microsoft has done nothing with the Banjo or Conker franchises for years and it'd be great to see them reborn on the Wii U or 3DS. But I just don't think that's going to happen. Besides, would Nintendo really allow Retro Studios to spend so much time developing a game for a franchise that they haven't secured the rights to yet? Not bloody likely. But we can always dream.

Nintendo is supposedly in talks with Microsoft to buy Rare so that they can gain the rights to the Banjo-Kazooie  series. The tipster has said that Nintendo wants to buy the company as a whole and not just the specified franchise (the deal would also include the Conker IP).

This all seems to good to be true though, as he or she has also stated that Retro Studios is deep in development for a new Banjo-Kazooie title, which is less than likely. I'd take this whole topic with a grain of salt, it seems less than likely. Still though, if this did happen, I'd be overjoyed. What are your thoughts about this rumor?
