[Rumor] Playstation Plus is considering a tiered service
Based on a Playstation Survey, Sony might be recouping those reported losses via Playstation Plus by introducing a tiered version of the service. While it wouldn’t vary from too much of what you’ve already seen in the service (games, cloud support, discounts, etc…) it does appear that it would offer more of that same content.
One exception is the inclusion of COD Elite, which is a third-party service and Playstation isn’t normally the first console that comes to mind for COD. With them recently experimenting with giving away more ‘disc based’ games like Far Cry 2 and Need for Speed Unleashed 2, this idea seems probable.
Not to mix subjective rumors with subjective fact, but Playstation Plus is going to have an incredible May. I logged onto PSN last night to find Awesomenauts, Castlevania: SOTN, Trine 2, and the PixelJunk 4am Beta all for free. There will of course be some additional minis and discounts, but for the first day of a new month, that is damn impressive.

yeah last month plus was pretty amazing, this month was somehow better. regardless I hate playstation after they released there faulty tv's, terrible uncharted 3, Overpriced games on vita, dissed egoraptor, and changed business tactics to try to mimic what my most hated video game companies do to make money.

ps plus was easily the best investment I put into my ps3, in 3 months I recived over 25 games, the vast majority were really good like the back 2 the future episodes, trine 2 and simpsons arcade among my favorites, I totaly disagree with those who think ill of the service

PS+ doesn't seem worth it to me.

PS+ is a ripoff even when it was free after the network crash I didn't even bother with it...i guess some people just enjoy getting nickel and dime'd

I have been getting free or heavily discounted games every week, for an annual price less than that of one retail game, that I haven't even started half of them, just like Steam. Some people don't like saving money I guess :)

Only way I am paying for PS+ is if they allow customized avatars and ps2 emulation. The free games don't interest me, if its good I'll just purchase it. I don't need long term rentals.

Or you could pay a fraction of their retail price with PS+'s discounts, which update every week. Also, the PS3 can play PlayStation 2 games.

Between this week and last I've got Awesomenauts, Wakeboarding HD, Sky Fighter, Mushroom Wars, Smash Cars, Hamster Ball, Ricochet HD, Mahjong Tales, Max Payne, Silent Hill, Trine 2, Shift 2 and Shank 2, ALL FOR NOT A SINGLE PENNY. So in one week's worth of haul I've made back the €50 spent for the year, only been on Plus since March, in which I also have free Streets of Rage 2, Burnout Paradise, Resident Evil 2&3, Simpsons Arcade, Arc the Lad, Final Fantasy V, Comix Zone, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Far Cry 2 and Toy Story 3, as well as all the massive discounts and nice shit like avatars and themes. Do I think PS+ is worth it. HELL YES

Until the day you forget to pay or unsubscribe to playstation plus or the service for PSN is discontinued, then you are left with only inaccessible disk space.
Don't get me wrong I have the service and love it. I also realize it's nothing more than a a really nice rental/ discount service except for dlc and fluff.

Don't think it's going to be difficult to remember to pay something once a year, I do it with Uni fees, insurance premiums, motor tax, etc. And even if I did unsubscribe and resub, you can still access everything even if you got it for free; I was able to redownload the free stuff from the outage PS+ period a year later when I subbed for real. And you get to keep anything you paid a single penny and up for. Worst case scenario is that in a few years I can't play some games that I got for free, completed, platinummed, finished with whatever, and would be sitting idle on a shelf otherwise. Complaining about a service discontinuing sometime in the future isn't a reason not to get it, otherwise noone would ever pay for an online game ever again.
