[Rumor] Sony registers Sony All-Stars Battle Royale domain name
Rumors about a Smash Bros. style fighter staring Sony exclusive characters, have been spreading across the Internet since last November and it seems that about 6 months later, those rumors may have finally been proven true.
According to the folks over at PlayStation Lifestyle, Sony has indeed filed a domain name for Sony All-Stars Battle Royale, which is rumored to be under development at SuperBot Entertainment.
If the domain is legit (which it very likely could be), this might be the big Sony exclusive that's set to show off its world premiere trailer on Game Trailers TV this coming Thursday.
However, since we have yet to hear official word from Sony about this game being an actual product, we'll just play it safe and keep the "rumor" label on it for just a little bit longer.
...I'm...not sure what to say back to that...
really wish they change the name to something that wasnt so... blecch
Kat from Gravity Rush.
They do? I had no idea 1999 was tyhe beginning of the N64's life cycle.
Hey look, someone who keeps moving the goalposts and wil;l say thaqt any character I say is not well known despite the huge amount of obvious evidence they are.
sounds awesome, I'll definateley gt this.
Name some Sony characters that are well-known besides the ones I listed above.
.....so? SSBB still has a very recognizable roster.
But for all we know this game could revolutionize Sony and 2D fighters, I'm not saying it will but there hasn't been a single second of gameplay, so you can't judge so quickly. ho knows maybe this will be devloped by a brand new developer, one that does have that reach, again i'm not saying it will but you can't say this early on.
I use the term non-gamer to mean someone who doesn't check sites like this or subscribe to any major magazines. They may own a console, but they don't play it all the time, or take as much passion in it as we do.
Perhaps a better term would've been "casual" gamers, but I don't like using that because the connotation is always that they play Wii Sports or Imagine Babyz or something worse and nothing else, and that's not what I'm talking about.
Smash Bros. works because it's the great equalizer; you can bring virtually anyone from any walks of life into a room to Smash, and they'll all enjoy themselves. The controls are simple, the characters and stages familiar, and the aesthetic fun, pure and simple. It's not a game simply for Nintendo nerds; it's a game for everyone that also happens to have a lot of fanservice - a lot like what I imagine the upcoming Avengers movie will be for comics.
Sony just doesn't have that reach. I'm sorry if I've been offending you, but that's a fact. They don't. So for them to try to put out a game like this reeks of desperation and short-sightedness. Sony fanboys may in fact eat it all up... but nobody else will. And that, in short, is why this project, if it even actually exists, is doomed to fail.
Kratos is going to make everyone his bitch.
So basically, your argument is that because you're an idiot, everyone else is.
Bull. I know people who have played Smash for years who have no clue who Samus or Kirby are outside those games.
Oh, and to quote a pretty serious gamer, "Who the fuck is Marth and why is unlocking him considered an achievement?"
REVISED XBOX ROSTER Master Chief, Marcus Fenix, Banjo, Conker, Avatar, Joanna Dark, Geralt of Rivia, Commander Shepard, Hero of Brightwall (Fable III), Forza Car, 'Splosion Man, Gunstringer, Viva Pinata, Dovakiin (Who plays Skyrim on a PS3?), Crackdown Guy, Trials Driver,
Again, If you can think of any more, reply!
I hate how everything gets leaked before being announced. Whats wrong with just an announcement? I like surprises.
kratos would kill everyone no contest
I CALL RATCHET!
I CALL DRAKE!
The only "Sony" character I really care about is Sly Cooper..
ohhhhh. I see.
