[Rumor] Wii U facing uphill battle to release across Europe
Sources have indicated to CVG that the Wii U is being positioned to release sometime around the Thanksgiving holiday season. At least it was in Europe until the manufacturer ran into some “key issues” with the new Wii U Gamepad. There was even some concern in July that the console might slip into 2013, but it appears that issue has been resolved.
With the holiday shopping season being one of the more lucrative times a year, it seems like no surprise that Nintendo is determined to make the deadline. Hopefully we will know more regarding the Wii U and its release date in the coming month. For now, Nintendo has declined to comment. Any g1s in Europe disappointed that the Wii U may no longer see a simultaneous worldwide launch?

I think you are highly exaggerating the manufacturing cost of that controller, considering it doesn't even have a dedicated processor inside it.
as long as the delay is no more than a month then i dont see a problem. the wii came out early in december but if they still want to be competitive in the 3rd party market they really need to launch it before or around the same time as the assassin's creed, mw bo2 and the EA sports games.
It's not too difficult to guess at the price if you consider component costs that cell phone and tablet manufacturers have to pay. Those costs are published and well known. I probably did shoot a little high there though. The tablet is probably more like $60 not 85.
guess we better get ready for sold out wiiu's for the next 2 years lol.
you know this? how dose the Wii U cost less than the Wii without a tablet, it makes no since, I think you don't know what your talking about when comes to Wii U and its price
Isn't the tablet controller one of the Wii U's biggest selling points, I don't think it's really neccesary.
Its probably going to be required in the sense that every game has to be made with the tablet controller in mind as top priority but not necessarily with tablet features which is how ports can allow the Pro Controller.
Similar to the Wii having games with no motion control but still had the Wiimote used to control the game.
This seems to be a point of disagreement. Some people say it will work fine without the tablet yet others say it is required. I have no idea. What I do know is that if 3rd party developers want their games to work on other consoles that those games need to work without a tablet.
Only problem is the system is designed with the tablet as the central focus and the pro controller as an optional choice similar to the Wii having the Wiimote as the main controller and the others as optional.
WiiU with tablet = $300, WiiU without tablet = $215, See it now?
it come with the pro controller, I don't really see the problem
If there are 'key issues' with Gamepad, why does it only effect us europeans? I don't get it and would like to understand :(
Yea but you still have to pay for a tablet. Why not give the customer a choice? Especially since the pro controller is much cheaper. It would only increase sales of the console.
Umm, you know they made Wii U Pro controller, right?
I still think they should release a version of the Wii U without a tablet.
Hey Sean, Nintendo are going announce the price and date next month on Nintendo Direct.
Being that I am getting alot of stuff as it is like the Halo 4 LTD Edition, RE 6 Collectors Edition and 3 Exclusive F4F Sonic Staues (Tails, Knuckles and modern Sonic) I won't have the money to get a new console right away. Maybe next year but for my UK gaming year I'm fine thanks :P
I'd like to know these Key Issues they speak of... didn't meet EU environment standards? To many languages? Some sort of device also called a Gamepad? Or even the output voltage is different than NA....
