Saints Row 4 could be arriving this August
After getting acquired by Deep Silver in the THQ bankruptcy, the Saints Row franchise could possibly be seeing another installment this summer. The game’s design director, Chris Stockman, recently tweeted at IGN saying that the next Saints Row is planned to arrive on current gen consoles this coming August.
Although the publisher has said they are still working alongside developer, Volition, on the game’s timing, and that they have yet to confirm any platforms the game will arrive on, Stockman tweeted this…
If the next Saints Row does in fact beat GTA V to the punch, will it actually make a huge difference? As the upcoming installment to the series was pushed all they way back until September. Personally I don’t’ think so, but from what we’ve seen from GTA V so far, Saints Row is going to have to do a lot if they want to be the king of open world games this year.
But what do you think g1s? Is there really a need to compare both these games? Or do want more Saints Row news before you judge which game will be better? Let me know in the comment section below!
Yeah, you're wrong.
I know, I was considering that. That means that the Dominatrix part of development (from around March to a bit past when they decided it would be a new game I'd guess) is completely built in SRTT, not a new game (meaning that no real changes would come from that part) and that the rest is where 'new' stuff was probably added. That is about a year and a half, not much for an open world game.
I'm afraid this is going to feel too much like DLC not a new game.
The world always needs more dildo swords.
I disagree. I felt Saints Row 3 finally broke free of its 'GTA but cuurazeyer' mentality and became a true game in its own right.
But i understand your opinion
Yeah. Im gonna assume it was meant Late august 2014.
I preffered SRTT over the top bat-shit crazy story over that of SR2 serious-ish approach. GTA has serious-ish part covered for me. I'd rather just run around and beat cops and gangsters with dildo bat in SR game. Would welcome cutscenes before missions instead of phonecalls though, and full customization of clothing and septic truck. Also make tanks customizable without exploiting glitches PINK TANKS FTW
It's short because It was originally being Developed as the Stand Alone DLC Enter The Dominatrix. Basically they canceled the DLC in order to release it as it's own game.
I'll say I want to go back to Saints 2 again in some ways (I played it ust yesterday, before this came up) like the true customizable clothes, the relevant story, etc. I am kind of uneasy at the very short development cycle though.
They Canceled Enter The Dominatrix DLC and instead decided to make it Saints Row 4. That's why its coming out so soon.
I'll be getting both as well. Both are really solid franchises, each with their pros and cons. Though the people for Saints Row will really have to get to work if they even want to meet the already-high standards set for GTA V.
I agree too, they never finished the dangling thread they left in Corporate Warfare DLC, which would have been perfect tie up in Saints Row 3. Saints Row 2, still gets played by me today, while I haven't had so much wanted to play 3 again after the DLC Packs.
I'll get both though, looking forward to GTA V more than Saints Row 4 (Little late to be coming out with very little publicity, epically when your competition has a good 1 and half year start for hyping)
I got on the Saints Row wagon with the third and I am excited about the fourth. I've seen some comments below saying two is better, city and story wise (more serious) but I kind of like how the third one didnt take it's self too seriously. It's what set it apart from GTAIV. I should play more of number 2 though!
I just hope they go back to the way Saints Row 2 was. Saints Row 3 was great, but it didn't beat Saints Row 2 in my opinion.
I enjoy the Saints Row series much more than GTA, so I'll be picking this up. I just hope that they've gone back to the style of SR2 of SRTT, a better mix of insanity with seriousness. And a better city than Steelport. While Steelport didn't suck, it just wasn't as memorable as Stilwater.
I don't know personally I enjoy playing Saints Row more then I enjoy play Grand Theft Auto...I have GTAIV but I just couldn't get into it. So I'm excited about Saints Row 4....and Enter the Dominatrix
Like Bryan and Chad were talking about during side scrollers people enjoy messing around with the cops and gangs without really playing much of the actual story. Saints Row's story has always been stupid, but in the good way. Personally I will probably spend more time playing Saints Row 4 then I would GTA 5 in terms of story. Plus I kinda want to see which character becomes a zombie next.
I personally enjoyed the Saints Row games way more. you could essentially do what everybody does on GTA, just mess around in the city doing stupid shit, but in Saints Row's case, it is over the motherfucking top in its own comical and ridiculous way.
