Saints Row 4 could be arriving this August

2/7/13 10:02pm

After getting acquired by Deep Silver in the THQ bankruptcy, the Saints Row franchise could possibly be seeing another installment this summer. The game’s design director, Chris Stockman, recently tweeted at IGN saying that the next Saints Row is planned to arrive on current gen consoles this coming August.

Although the publisher has said they are still working alongside developer, Volition, on the game’s timing, and that they have yet to confirm any platforms the game will arrive on, Stockman tweeted this…

"The word around the campfire is SR4 is shipping on current gen consoles in late August."

If the next Saints Row does in fact beat GTA V to the punch, will it actually make a huge difference? As the upcoming installment to the series was pushed all they way back until September. Personally I don’t’ think so, but from what we’ve seen from GTA V so far, Saints Row is going to have to do a lot if they want to be the king of open world games this year.

But what do you think g1s? Is there really a need to compare both these games? Or do want more Saints Row news before you judge which game will be better? Let me know in the comment section below!

I preffered SRTT over the top bat-shit crazy story over that of SR2 serious-ish approach. GTA has serious-ish part covered for me. I'd rather just run around and beat cops and gangsters with dildo bat in SR game. Would welcome cutscenes before missions instead of phonecalls though, and full customization of clothing and septic truck. Also make tanks customizable without exploiting glitches PINK TANKS FTW

I'll say I want to go back to Saints 2 again in some ways (I played it ust yesterday, before this came up) like the true customizable clothes, the relevant story, etc. I am kind of uneasy at the very short development cycle though.

It's short because It was originally being Developed as the Stand Alone DLC Enter The Dominatrix. Basically they canceled the DLC in order to release it as it's own game.

I know, I was considering that. That means that the Dominatrix part of development (from around March to a bit past when they decided it would be a new game I'd guess) is completely built in SRTT, not a new game (meaning that no real changes would come from that part) and that the rest is where 'new' stuff was probably added. That is about a year and a half, not much for an open world game.

I'm afraid this is going to feel too much like DLC not a new game.

KRS 2

I got on the Saints Row wagon with the third and I am excited about the fourth. I've seen some comments below saying two is better, city and story wise (more serious) but I kind of like how the third one didnt take it's self too seriously. It's what set it apart from GTAIV. I should play more of number 2 though!
