Save Skyrim on PS3 and break the game
It is rare that a game played offline would experience lag, but Bethesda has found a way to do it in Skyrim. Apparently on PS3 copies of the game, if your save file exceeds 5-6 mb on the PS3 hard drive, it slows the game to a crawl. This bug keeps you from interacting with NPCs or completing quests. Ex OPM UK, Editor Tim Clark has a experienced this himself and had this to say.
So it would appear that the issue stems from the size of a save file. A save file will continue to increase in size as a player spends more time in the world completing quests and growing as a character. The work around appears to be turning off the auto save feature, but I would think that would be worse. I can only imagine forgetting to manually save and losing hours of content. Bethesda tweets they are "continuing to work on an update for all platforms to address issues".

Fallout, Skyrim...this is why I dont rly like games like these. The concept is great...but sometimes when ya find lag as bad as this in a single-player only game...ya cant help but feel mad.

360 is messing up Arkham City saves, PS3 is messing up Skyrim saves.....I can't believe I'm actually starting to miss game cartridges with built in memory...

Yea I remember those too...though if memory serves, those memory files got easily corrupted at random when it came to the N64. Ya try to play your game, ya turn on the N64 and boom, all your files are erased. Luckly I learned how to fix that by just taking the cartridges and blowing on it. Then all my files came back (thank gawd). These however...I dont think the same procedure works on disks. :/

Goddamn, my save file is slowly reaching the 5MB mark. Guess no skyrim after I hit it until Bethesda fixes the bug. :I
