Sega confirms HD ports of Sonic Adventure 2
The cheers of Sonic fans made a rather impressive “Boom” at Comic Con earlier today, as Sega officially confirmed HD Xbox 360 and PS3 ports of Sonic Adventure 2.
The game’s release (or should I say re-release?) date has not been revealed at this time. However, we do know that it’s XBLA and PSN launch will occur sometime this fall.
Here’s some raw footage of the unveiling at the Sonic Boom event:
Now that was an impressive pop!
Touché, you do raise a good point there.
Well that IS why it's called Sonic Adventure 2 "Battle".
I've only played the Dreamcast version a few times but never actually noticed how much they actually changed, but from what you said, it seems like they made the biggest changes in the multiplayer.
The game was good to begin with and Battle gave us a little more stuff to play with. It doesn't need HD graphics or a Trophy/Achievement list. They don't really add anything to the game itself and if you already played the game, that is all your paying for. I was happy with the original Sonic Adventures but the only reason I did buy the Gamecube versions was because my Dreamcast broke.
That leads the question.... should i still track down and DC copy or just purchase this?
I'm eager to see how it looks in HD, and who knows, maybe I will even buy it. I hope it includes the battle modes from the Gamecube, and maybe a way to do the Chao Garden.
Oh dude i'm so excited this was literally my second fav gamecube game I loved it i still play it. I hope there can be online for the multiplayer if not achievements will be more than enough for me to get it. Also a new chao garden :D
No Green Hill and the alternate costumes are in the Dreamcast version as well. Battle added more multiplayer stages, slightly impoved graphics, and changed the Chao system(originally the Black Market was an online only feature.)
It also made changes to the Dark Chao garden, removed Big the Cat in multiplayer mode in exchange for a Dark Chao, Another big difference is that the extra multiplayer characters(Amy, Tikal, Chaos, Metal Sonic, and the Chaos) actually have specific attacks and voices. In the original, only Amy as voiced and she used Sonic wind. Metal Sonic was exactly the same as Shadow, where in Battle he had a shield and could not get power up attacks.
The menu themes are also on disk instead of online downloads. The final notable difference is that the holiday outfits were removed. Battle also has a lot more glitches, different posters in City Escape, and removes all of Big the Cat's cameos, but those aren't major or important changes.
Never liked Adventure 2 all that much. I preferred the original....until the terribly glitchy gamecube port came out(that they did not fix when they released on ps3 and xbl). Adventure 2 did have a better game cube version, still more glitchy than the original Dreamcast, but better multiplayer and chao.
I'm going to pass on this. I already have it on Dreamcast
True, but if Sega is stupid enough to do that, then my last game from Sega would be Jet Set Radio, but if they don't do that, then you can buy one of the greatest games ever made with trophies and its in HD. So as of now, the odds are 50/50.
Fuck all y'all, I 100%'d Sonic Adventure on the PS3 and hope to do the same wi-
Oh fuck off if there's an all A Rank Trophy...
I am going to purchase THE SHIT out of this.
Sonic Adventure 2 had THE BEST Chao Garden features. I hope it has the karate and races just like SA2:Battle did
I love when crowds go crazy xD
I played the hell out of this as a kid, siked to see a HD release. Especially since the dam GameCube copy i bought recently never worked....
Nice too see Sega poking fun out of themselves for not exactly keeping info 'Under Wraps' these past few years. Oh and online Sonic & Shadow races anyone?
i never got past that desert level, bloody camera angles. one day i figured out what i had to do and it crashed
That's exciting, I really liked that game! I look forward to seeing what the HD releases will look like but I'm not gonna buy it.
There was extra stuff in the Chao Garden like Karate and extra Kindergarten areas in the GameCube version.
I hope they have the Gamecube's version of Chao Garden with the Karate and extra stuff at Kindergarten.
