The big Wii U and 3DS release of Sonic: Lost World isn’t the only reason SEGA is giving its fanbase to be excited for Tuesday it seems, as the developer/publisher posted a rather cryptic teaser on its social media channels earlier this afternoon.
As you can see in the banner above, SEGA is warning gamers that guts will be something on Tuesday and whatever that something is, it’s seven characters long. The most commonly guessed word is "spilled," which makes sense given it fits both the blank and the context of the sentence, so I’m inclined to agree with that. Given what the company recently said about remakes
, it very could be a remake of one of its classic IPs or maybe even a reboot. Or perhaps it's something entirely new.
As far as which classic IP could be linked to this message, commentors on SEGA’s Facebook
page and Twitter
feed have offered up some interesting guesses, with Shenmue
, Zombies Ate My Neighbors
, and House of the Dead
being the most popular.
Zombies Ate My Neighbors is a decent guess given the message's font but it’s not a SEGA IP. Shenmue on the other hand is and the title also fits in the blank but "Guts will be Shenmue" doesn't make sense. House of the Dead seems like the most obvious solution here as it’s a horror IP created by SEGA and plenty of guts have been "spilled" throughout its zombie-shooting history.
Now that I think about it, “chucked” is a seven-letter word. Maybe this going to be a DecapAttack related announcement? It is a horror inspired SEGA title after all and perhaps Chuck D. Head is in line for a comeback…eh, but probably not.
So, we’ve got about two days until the announcement is made. Anyone have any different guesses?
