Seth Killian joins Sony and Santa Monica Studios
Seth Killian has announced on the Playstation Blog that he now works at Santa Monica Studios where he is a lead game designer.
Here is a snippet of what he had to say:
With Playstation and Seth joining at Evo, this is very exciting. I know I will be there. And from everyone who cares, congrats Seth. Glad to see you happy and good luck to All-Stars Battle Royale.
Gamespot also has an interview on him asking why he left Capcom and joined Sony here
They could be ex-Santa Monica employees, but they are not owned by Sony.
I thought they were a spin off of Sony Santa Monica.
I don't think so. They are in a contract with Sony for All-Stars, but will eventually be left to their own devices. Kind of like thatgamecompany or Insomniac. That is why I consider them a Second Party studio.
I'd rather play it on my PS3 because it can upscale them into high destination and be able to consolidate space by using a single unit for all my games rather than a dedicated piece of hardware for each piece of software, did you forget that for the consumers?
Again, you go stating personal opinion as fact, cite your source or stop using that feeble crutch you so constantly fall back on.
Yes the software emulation was far from perfect but I would have though that since their chief competition (Microsoft) was releasing quarterly update for their emulator to expand the library of compatible titles they would have done the same. Clearly I put too much faith in a company like Sony to give a damn what they think about their customers.
So you're literally assuming malice with them? You admit you're being completely paranoid about this? Also, here's a quick question, if a person has a Ps2 library they wish to play, why not play it on their Ps2? Hmmm?
How about the fact that with backwards compatability the thing didn't fucking sell? How about that? Clear cut for public opinion if you ask me. As for the code, you may remember that that code didn't work, like, at all. Everyone who used the software wemulation opption said it was shit.
Oh Fulchrum you short sited ninny, you don't know how business plan things. You don't suddenly flip a switch and magically things appear on servers, these things take months sometimes years before they get rolled out. Yes the classics were rolled out recently and they were probably working on that for 2 years if not more to get it in place. Having the classics up and having a backward compatible system would be a direction competition to the introduction of new revenue and one thing got the axe.
Also cite your source on public opinion of backward compatibility prior to launch of the console, I love how you arbitrarily take your opinion and present it as fact. Also the system was slow to sell because it was $600, there had not been a console that expensive since the 3D0 which was $700. Sony had an opportunity to keep it going as a software only solution with code that was in the first generation 80GB PS3 (the model with 4 USB ports) and eventually dropped it for no good reason. Code costs nothing to duplicate, it was a feature they could have touted as a selling point, and yet they discarded it like yesterday's newspaper. Utterly shameful, intensely disgraceful.
If I make you physically (never mind the fact we haven't met in person before) ill over something as insignificant as someone getting a new job, one would probably want to see medical attention as it could impede their ability to fully contribute and function in society beyond the confines of this website.
Oh geez, why did they do that? I mean, people said overwhelmingly that they wanted backwards compatability. Oh, wait, they didn't fucking want backwards compatability you idiot, thats why people didn't buy the fucking system. If backwards compatability had been important in the slightest, then the system would have fucking sold wouldn't it? That the system sold better after the price cut showed that the price cut was more important.
And there's a slight gap in your little "take away backwards compatability and provide the Ps2 Classics" thing. That gap? 4 fucking years you moron. Classics weren't available until October of last year.
Yeah, a gag reflex, when I interact with a person who makes me physically ill.
You did it again "you're" not "your." :D
This is the internet, not much shit is right.Do you call out people who use lol,OMG,STFU.How dare me and about half of the internet? Your a grammar nazi so bad lol. I don't know why u keep replying. You just keep coming up with dump shit. But w/e guess i start trolling or something if you reply again. LULZ
I don't honestly know what's more sad, someone falling back to the "internet anonymity" defense or the fact you have to bring up Nazi's (proper noun, needs to be UPPER case not lower case) when it comes to grammar. A horrible political party like that should never be held in such ill regard when it comes to proper grammar! How dare you!
He was a major consultant for sure, Capcom went through great lengths to tell us at their booth that he personally oversaw the re-balancing of the US release of Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
That's all you got.wow lol, its the internet no one give a fuck about grammar. Nothing more then a hater and a grammar nazis. So sad.
Getting so mad over me finding a typo? Why I never have found such rudeness in all the internet!
By the way fancy pants, you weren't the one clearly wording the sentence to cite an example of Sony backstabbing a company. I can think of one in particular, when they removed backward compatibility of the Playstation 3 for Playstation 2 games, that's taking a pretty big knife to their consumers. That was one of the biggest selling points of the PS2, and now they take that feature away a little over a year after their console launches? What kind of marketing is that? So what do they do instead, they sell you a digital copy which is smart from a business standpoint but horrible on a customer relations standpoint. They took that knife, to their loyal fans and new adopters of the platform.
You assume the bonus was tied to the sales of the system, it wasn't, it was tied to the profit/net/loss of my fiscal year and it was the overwhelming return of a vendor's item that ruined it.
You're a funny guy you know that? Throwing down harsh language anytime you get mad, it's like a reflex for you.
Get back to me when you can use proper grammar, it's "you're a Sony hater" not "your" which is the possessive.
I feel like all he needed to do was participate (be a guest of honor) in The Tester...and now he has a job at Sony. It was probably his fallback plan all along. xD
well i am much more excited for Sony brawl then i was. hopefully now the characters will feel distinct, though i don't know if that truly was a problem because i haven't played battle royal yet.
