Shadow of the Colossus Movie has a director
If you didn't know, Sony Pictures is making a movie based on the critically acclaimed Playstation-exclusive Shadow of the Colossus from Team ICO.
Well, according to Deadline, Colossus movie's director will be none other than Josh Trank, the director of Chronicle. The source states that Trank, who is currently attached to projects like Fantastic Four and the Spider-Man spinoff Venom, has become the go-to guy for big popcorn flicks such as these. And now with the director post tied down, they are currently looking for writers to weave the narrative.
More good news: Trank is also a fan of Team ICO's work and actively sought out this position.
What do you g1s think? Is this a disaster waiting to happen or could this possibly end up being as good as or even better than the Prince of Persia movie? Post your thoughts in the comments below.

Not much story...so...this might come off as a special effects thing like Avatar (James Cameron's Avatar, not the other one)

I don't know because "Shadow" is not a very film type game; it's progresion is very video game style witch would make it hard for an adaptation and if the would change details of the story so that they can make it more into an actual film it would fall short in the original's charm. It would work better as a short IMO.

That's what I'm saying. It's not made for films. It's made for gaming. That's how ICO stuff usually is. But we'll have to wait and see. I'm not holding my breath for anything fantastic though. =3

Can't wait for it to not get made!

But I wanna see it if it's super awful! =3

how do you make a blockbuster with no dialouge?
AsaiNeroTran
There's dialogue. It's just light on dialogue. lol. =3

It'll be hit or miss. If the director is a fan, it's quite possible it'll be done right, as only the fans and creators know what it would take to make it work.
It's like if they were to do a Live-Action Metroid movie, either someone who really enjoys the games, or Ridley Scott would be the best bet. (Ridley Scott because the game was initially based off HIS movie.)

I think it will be a disaster based solely on the fact that the game is a minimalist kind of game, so it clashes with all the elements of cinema that have been established so well since...well, way before color TV.
