Sonic Adventure 3 domains registered

7/24/12 3:00pm

Go Go Gadget Rumor Mill!

TSSZ reports that the following top level domains have been registered by an unknown party back in April 2012. See if you can find a pattern:

  • sonicadventure3.com
  • sonicadventure3.net
  • sonicadventure3.org
  • sonicadventure3.info
  • sonicadventure3.fr
  • sonicadventure3.eu

So yeah, this could be seen as quasi-confirmation that a long-awaited sequel to the acclaimed Sonic Adventure franchise is finally on it's way, BUT there are a few catches.

First of all, the domains have been registered at the French division of Internet provider 1&1, which is a bit unusual for Sega; Domains for Sonic Generations, Sonic Free Riders, and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 were all managed by EuroDNS. Also, it seems a bit weird to me that these domains would be registered in France...and considering that Sega's French division was shut down a short while ago, I'm not sure about the implications.

On a positive note, the domains have been active for over three months now and Sega still hasn't done anything about it, so...maybe there is something substantial behind it? Only time will tell. And we'll tell you as soon as time tells us something.

What do the g1s think about this? Do you want another Sonic Adventure?

I'd want this. I did like pretty much most of the play styles in the Adventure games. Hell all I really want is the next sonic game. I don't really care if it's adventure style or not.

Sonic Adventure 3 would be a dream come true, seeing as SEGA finally figured out how to do Modern Sonic's Gameplay.

In sega's financial state? Sega can't afford to fail in the console market again and with sonic's track record I don't think players would be willing to invest in a console with a chance to fail. Sega would need a real good gimmick to get players interested and even then most players would rather stick to Nintendo PlayStation and Xbox consoles where they are guaranteed titles.

Not surprised. Sega bringing Adventure 1 and 2 to PSN and Xbox live. Bringing Sonic Underground back on Disney XD. It was bound to happen. Personally I would love to see the Sonic franchise return to its former glory.

I'd be overjoyed if this really happened! :D

And then Sega reveals that half the game is playing as a Werehog. I want to say I'm excited, but don't blame me for being highly skeptical.

Which kind of makes sense, because Sonic Unleashed originally was suppose to be named Sonic Adventure 3. Heck, in Japan Sonic Unleashed is named Sonic World Adventure.
