Sony nails digital pricing (finally!!)
It seems that the major consoles have had some trouble when it comes to the pricing of digital downloads of full games. Sony is stepping up with the cure with what their reffering to as "Ultimate Editions" These discounted prices for full games include the game, plus all of the DLC that has come out for the game for a relatively low price. The deals are as follow.
- Red Dead Redemption - $27.99 ($19.59 PlayStation Plus)
- Infamous 2 - $33.99 ($23.79 PlayStation Plus)
- BioShock 2 - $27.99 ($19.59 PlayStation Plus)
- MotorStorm Apocalypse - $50.49 ($35.34 PlayStation Plus)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops - $66.49 ($46.54 PlayStation Plus)
- L.A. Noire - $27.99 ($19.59 PlayStation Plus)
- Mafia II - $20.99 ($14.69 PlayStation Plus)
- Just Cause 2 - $20.99 ($14.69 PlayStation Plus)
- Mortal Kombat - $34.99 ($24.49 PlayStation Plus)
With rumors that the next generation of consoles will be primarily digital download based, its nice to know that it is possible to recieve good deals on retail games.
Not bad I guess, but I'll stick with Steam when it comes to digital game sales. Steam easily trumps most of these deals.
can't say i blame you :P
Yeah, I know, but it doesn't stop me from complaining
The odd thing is that the avatars are already out in most parts of Europe. There are a few countries, including mine, which somehow have difficulty(Which has been going on for over some months now). I can't find what the problem or delay is anywhere, not even on NIS nor Playstation forums.
You're gonna wait a long time then. We got the SF4 avatars almost a year later than US customers. EU has been dicked over in +95% of the cases in the gaming industry.
I like to know that digital distribution is making a step forward, but I'm also pretty hesitant. If I was to download a game, say its 10 GB, i'd be downloading it for about a week, my internet ain't worth two cents.
its deliberate for the exact reason you just stated. it sucks, but its a good move on Sony's part to sell more PSN cards, marketing people usually aren't a consumers best friend.
Deals look pretty neat, I have to say. :)
Will they ever do such a thing in Europe? I really wonder. PSN isn't really up to par over here as it is in America and Asia. I'm still waiting on my Disgaea avatars Sony!
I guess this could work... sorta...?
That's still a lot of money to pay for the same game you've already bought 5 times.
Did you try reading the 3 lines just above the prices?
Well, they had 4 DLC packs priced at $15 each, so it's still a good deal by those standards (almost 50% off,) but geez, anyone who bought the game at full price and got all of the DLC pretty much payed for Black Ops two times. That's crazy.
Yes. Every game on that list comes with every single piece of DLC released for the game for the price that you see.
I'm really confused on that CoD:BO price. Does that include all the DLC?
Its nice(sarcasm) to know that Call Duty can still be the most expensive thing ever.
Wow, those games priced at $20.99 are such a dick move. If they were $1 less, you'd be able to get them by buying a $20 psn card, but no, they put it at that weird price so you have to buy 2 cards, or a $50 card. I mean, you could always pay with your credit card, but after the hack, I don't really want to
It sounds expensive until you consider the fact that the DLC alone for that game is 60 dollars. That means you're getting the game itself for about 6 bucks.
Black Ops for $66.49. WTF?
I already have or dont want all of those though.
