Sony is pulling PSP games to prevent Vita from being hacked

PSP was dead on arrival for several reasons in the West. Sure the library was rather weak and the PSP was pretty expensive, but it was all the hacking that really hurt the chances of the PSP being a platform leader. Now it appears the PSP still haunts Playstation platforms, as the Vita is being hacked because of a little security leak using PSP emulation. The hack has so far been limited to two PSP titles, Hot Shots Tennis and Motorstorm Arctic Rift.

The hack comes from downloading the titles and running them on the Vita in “PSP mode”. An upside is that because the Vita is using emulation, hackers still can’t access the full power of the Vita. Because these two titles allow the hack to take place, they have momentarily been removed from PSN. Hopefully there will be a fix for that very soon or else the Vita just lost two pretty good PSP titles from its library. Oh and PSP users are out of luck too. All five of them…
