Steam machines not likely to make a dent in the console market, says Randy Pitchford
Underwhelmed by the steam machines this past week? Well so was Gearbox head Randy Pitchford, who in an interview said
This also comes to light after he already expressed disappointment with the lack of a Half life 3 announcement. A fair point, but kind of void coming from a man who to this day see's Colonial Marines as a finished shippable product.
Also, kind of funny that he didn't mention Nintendo amongst those game publishers, despite them being the only company with a next gen console currently on the market.
This is what is unofficially referred to as a "David cage comment."
I love it when people in the industry who done GOOFED try to criticize other companies/people.
Back in the corner with you, grown ups are talking.
Exactly, just use a 360 controller if you don't like the steam one.
Even in its current state, it hasn't killed the console market, but it sure has made a dent.
I don't think steam is going to kill any of the big three, but to say it won't hurt them is bull
The SteamOS seems like a good idea to me. I think it's more about taking over the PC market than the console market, since Microsoft fucked up WIndows 8 so bad and basically threw steam under the bus with the Windows Store. The controller isn't necessary, you can buy any controller ever.
It's those circles! I honestly don't know what to expect from them. It's all just... weird.
When you're involved with Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens Colonial Marines, you don't get to say things.
The controller is just... wrong looking. It's kind of like those third party snes/genesis controllers you see in used games stores.
Also, Mr. Pitchford should be banned for life from expressing disappointment when talking about video games.
My only quarrel with the Valve console is the controller. It just looks... too weird. I'll probably need to get some hands on to set in my opinion, but that's what I have to say. As to what Gearbox says, if it isn't about Borderlands, I don't want to hear shit from them, considering everything but Borderlands from them has tended to be shit.
Hopefully no one cares, Borderlands still as a fairly large and dedicated fanbase.
The man who said that the PR tactics for Aliens: CM should be repeated by other developers, AKA lie to everyone.
Like anyone cares what he says anymore other than to further hate him.
