Stick of Truth may be trapped in legal limbo [UPDATE]
UPDATE: Ubisoft has purchased the rights to publish The Stick of Truth, as long as South Park Studios gives them the OK. Source
THQ's bankruptcy has been a popular news topic lately, but there's one game in development that could suffer. I am, of course, talking about the upcoming RPG South Park: The Stick of Truth.
South Park Studios sent THQ a letter stating that THQ cannot sell the rights to Stick of Truth because, essentially, the rights aren't theirs to sell, and that South Park Studios must be allowed to buy back the rights to find a different publisher. THQ says it, of course, has the right to sell the rights.
This might be some bad news for gamers looking forward to the upcoming RPG: we could see anything from a delay to an outright cancellation, which would mean all the hard work put into the game would have been wasted. Personally, I don't see the game being cancelled, so we can only hope that a more ... well, financially stable publisher can get the rights to Stick of Truth. I want to be the new kid!
The game was orginally set to release March 5 of this year.
