Street Fighter X Mega Man V2 update coming soon

1/5/13 11:32am

The folks over at The Mega Man Network recently conducted an interview with Capcom USA community manager Brett Elston about the recent release of Street Fighter X Mega Man. During which, Elston revealed that an updated version of the game is in the works.

"We know there are a few rough edges left, even with a dozen people looking at this. To that end, we can say we’re working on a V2 that will release soon and hopefully address some of those known issues. It’s not adding content, but we’ve been reading responses and can 'tighten up' a few things.”

Which rough edges will this update fix? While he didn’t discuss all of the fixes, Elston did say the update will fix the game’s controller compatibility issues and it will not automatically close out the game if the Esc key is pressed (GOOD!).

As far as a release date is concerned, Elston said in a brief Twitter chat with Game Informer’s Tim Turi that Mega Man fans can expect V2 to be available later this month.

In a separate tweet, he said developer Seow Zong Hui is hard at work on V2 and all of its details will be revealed soon.

If you haven’t played the original Street Fighter X Mega Man, you should totally download it right now. Yeah, it has a few issues and it can suffer from lag at some points (which I hope V2 fixes), but it’s still pretty good and it’s worthy of time Mega Man and Street Fighter fans have to spare. Besides…it’s free.

It's working fine for me but it's good to know that they are fixing things up for others.

I got it working perfectly on my Linux computer, just had to install dsound and directmusic. Everything works for me, but it needs password/save.

If there's one thing I hope Capcom will solve, it's this: a lack of support for low-end computers.

No Esc shutdown? How am I going to close it? Had to manually kill the process, and it still bugged the Aero thingy

If this version doesn't bring a save or password feature I don't really care. It works absoutely fine for me on mt craptop, with my time usually being really limited I won't be able to complete it it until I can save or have a password.

I actually liked the quick Esc shutdown, it's great when the teacher comes over to your table and you can close the game (really!) quick.

I found no problems with this game. Only problem is it's ALOT easier then other megaman games.

I still haven't made it past the level with all eight bosses yet. I'm still not quite good enough to beat them without taking too much damage. That, and they didn't give me any health after beating one.
