Submissions for ScrewAttack Magazine #14
We need your help to keep the ScrewAttack Magazine going! Please take a second to check it out and see if you could contribute in any way!
Hi everyone, and welcome to a very nervous Elmo 3000 writing the reminder for this month's issue of HybridRain's ScrewAttack Magazine written by g1s, for g1s.
We're a week away from adding the finishing touches to issue #14, and we could still use some help from anyone willing to offer assistance. Whether you have an original idea for a thought-provoking piece, or a simple review of a recent game, we're interested in seeing what you have to say, and we're sure our audience will too. If you have anything you'd like to see put into the magazine, please let us know.
On that note, yes, we have a few new people working on the magazine. Myself and g1SideSmash are now editors, which means you can send us anything you think would go well in the project. Have anything you want to send us? Here's our email addresses!
Please only submit to 1 editor at a time, that way we can save time with confusions because of multiple submissions, we would really appreciate it. A few guidelines / assurances - if your work looks like this 'ocorino oof tiem revue' then we may ask you to check the spelling and grammar. If your work says 'Ocarina of Time Reveiw', then we will correct the spelling mistake ourselves and say nothing. We want to help, but there's a limit to what we can do before it would become our article instead of your's.
Furthermore, we're still on the lookour for a few more editors! If you're interested in helping the Editor's Group, see if you can tick off a few things from this checklist.
- Be a fairly regular blogger.
- Good grammar and spellchecking abilities.
- Free time to read submitted articles and reviews.
That's about it, so if you fulfil all of those criteria, and if you've made it this far, you probably do, then think about sending a PM to either myself, SideSmash, or HybridRain himself.
If you'd just like to submit an article to the Magazine, that's fine too, but there are a few steps you can take to make sure that the submission goes as smoothly as possible.
In the subject of the email, please include the kind of article you're submitting, and your g1 name! So for a review, 'Subject - SA MAG: *Insert type of review (Game, Movie, etc)* Review by g1 *your g1 name*. Likewise, for a blog or original article, please write 'Subject - SA MAG: Article (or) Blog *Insert name of Article/Blog* by g1 *your g1 name*. For Top 10s or lists, just type 'other' instead of 'blog', and be sure to include the title of your piece and your name.
Examples!
SA MAG: Game Review - Amnesia: The Dark Descent by g1 Brownpants.
SA MAG: Article - The Rise and Fall of Ristar by g1 Megadriver.
SA MAG: Top Ten - Top 10 Most Disturbing g1 Names by g1 ChewyKittens.
Remember you can send your articles to either of the editors with the emails above.
You can also follow any of us on Twitter!
Erm... if I'm honest, I don't check Twitter nearly as much as I check my emails, although I've been recommended some downloadables that can help, so the future is brighter. But I check my emails many times a day, so that's a very safe path to take.
Anyway, if you have something to write, but you're not sure if we could accept it, here's a list of things we accept!
Game reviews
Movie reviews
Top 10s
List of any nature
Blogs and articles in general
So, pretty much anything. Really. Anything you want to send us? Give it a shot! Worst-case scenario, we say 'Thanks for sending me your content! Unfortunately, I don't think this would be suitable for the ScrewAttack Magazine, but please send us anything else you'd like us to have a look at.' Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Now, we currently have a set of 'Requested Video Game Reviews'. We want to include all of your work, but it would be great if the magazine felt modern overall, so if you own or have experience with any of these games, it would be especially appreciated if you could write a little on these titles.
Mass Effect 3
Soulcalibur V
NeverDead
Kingdoms Of Amalur: Reckoning
The Darkness 2
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
Sword of the Stars II: The Lords of Winter
Dark Souls
The Adventures of Tintin
Trine 2
Star Wars: The Old Republic
In case you own none of those, but you're crazy-passionate about, say, Contra, then we do accept Retro Reviews. Although we care most about the quality of the work, bear in mind that staying relevant is something we have to try to do, so if we get 5 excellent Contra reviews and 1 good Skyrim review, Skyrim takes a little priority.
Although to be honest, if we got 5 great Contra reviews, we might have to do some kind of Contra spotlight.
Please don't send us 5 Contra reviews.
But do send us stuff.
... Anyway, one of the few limits we have on what you can review is that we don't like different reviews of the same game appearing in the magazine. If you're not sure if it has appeared already or not, please feel free to ask any one of us, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Anyway, even if you can't send anything in, you CAN ask to be informed every time a new issue comes out! We appreciate every reader, so in the meantime until some kind of subscription comes out, feel free to send me a PM, and I'll make a list of everyone who wants to be notified when a new issue comes out, and be sure to send you all a quick message when your favourite online monthly project makes an update.
So all in all, please send your articles for Issue #14 before March 23rd. Take care everyone, and thanks for reading!

ALERT! We would really like a Mass Effect 3 review, if you think you could write one, please let us know! Also, I hope people saw the tags.

Elmo do you still need me to fix something about my Sega thing. #EgoismFTW. Really though I just want to make sure everything is okay.
Elmo 3000
Anything at all not in .wps form would be uber-amazing. Sorry for the inconveniences. Repeated inconveniences. :(
joeshadowman
I sent it again. Only this time I think I fixed the problem we had.

I sent in the review to Side Smash. To get meet the 10 page limit, I cut out like 2 pages worth, from the story section. Also I don't have Word, so I used Open Office instead, but some things aren't compatible between the 2. So captions under pictures were removed, instead I just placed italicized text underneath images. Spacing might be a little weird do to compatibility issues, but that's an easy fix if you have Word (which I don't). If there is anything that needs fixing, let me know, I'll try to fix what I can.

I thought all entries were due today. Well, since it sounds like your a bit in need of reviews and content, I could send you another retro review. Elmo 30,000, are you okay with how I placed captions with the pictures I sent you for the other review or could you not figure it out?
Elmo 3000
I could figure out the placement of them fine. And it was a well-written review. And my copy of the game it was for arrived yesterday, so I'll pop it in as soon as I finish The Punisher. Which might be a while, cause I suck at The Punisher, but still...
MadHero15
Wait, why do you still need a Skyrim review? I sent it mine for the upcoming magazine?
Does that mean it won't be featured, or is it all just a simple mistake.
While I'm the main preview guy, I may not be able to make them for the next issue, because I'll be going to a place with not a whole lot of internet. Just thought you'd like to know
