Is Tales of Zestiria the next installment in the Tales saga?

9/8/13 7:10pm
The fine folks over at Siliconera have discovered a trademark Namco Bandai recently registered for Europe, which in all likelihood points to a new entry the beloved Tales series being in development. The name Tales of Zestiria appeared on the European Union’s official trademarks page on August 30.

Namco Bandai occasionally trademarks a few possible names for Tales games but more often than not, the names don’t get attached to anything or at least anything that leaves Japan. For instance, Namco filed several names such as Tales of Favorite, Tales of Ansis, Tales of Link, Tales of Catastora, Tales of Jin, and Tales of Bibliotheca (seriously?) just last month and you know they’re not all likely to become games.

So what makes Zestiria so special? It’s the fact it was registered outside of Japan, an honor Namco executives only bestow upon titles they know will be attached to a main entry in the series.

Now this doesn’t guarantee that the next installment is in development mind you, but it’s a very good sign. Oh and Tales of Zestoria (sound familiar?) was also among the names recently filed in Japan, so that's another very good sign ... I probably should have mentioned that one earlier.

Am I the only one who wants Tales of Bibliotecha? ... Preferably starring LeVar Burton
