There will be a Ninja Turtles game after all

2/17/12 6:00pm

We previously covered a rumor that there was a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game in development from Rocksteady. Sadly this rumor was debunked by the studio themselves, but it looks like a game may be in development somewhere. A site called NinjaPizza discovered at the Toy Fair 2012 a poster which was describing the marketing plan for the upcoming Nickelodeon reboot of TMNT.

This plan includes “cross-promotions with key licensees, including IDW & Activision.” IDW publishes comics, Activision video games, I think you see where this is going… Ubisoft previously held the license, but between them losing it and THQ dumping their Nickelodeon licenses, I guess it is Activision’s turn to take a stab at it. Too bad it is a tie-in game, instead of the gritty ninja action we were hoping for.

To make a long story really short, Mirage Studios sold the rights to TMNT a couple years ago. In return, Kevin Eastman is still allowed to create comics for it. BTW: the comic is REALLY GOOD
