Today's Takeaway - 09/26
I love how mysterious that new Sony ad is. Even if it is just from some kind of Playstation Home promotion, the vibe I get from it is fantastic. There was something great about the way the Playstation brand had been marketed in the past. Sony looked to tap into youth culture by developing strange, eye opening advertisements. The ideas they came up with carried a creepy tone, almost detached from reality.
Here are a few pictures, from previous ad campaigns I will always remember. Let me know of any other cool ads you remember, by posting links in the comments.

Some of the earliest ads I can remember being the "Baby" one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqkNPcUMffU AND the Weird alien chick one, WHICH if I remember correctly was directed by the same guy who did a few Aphex Twin videos i.e. "Rubber Johnny" very intense for it's time. Anywho, this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dpzhMMFk5U&feature=related

Long Live Play was an ad for the price drop:

"The new PS3 price of $249..."
Though they did combine it with a release of a bunch of AAA title games coming up. It's all a big "buy PS3's" campaign.

I have to disagree about 'something great about the way the Playstation brand being marketed.' anyone remember the PSP squirrels? the PS3 baby? Marcus PSP? Kevin Butler is just about the only brilliant marketing campaign they've run.

"been marketed". Was specifically referring to ad campaigns from previous generations. The squirrels, baby, and Marcus; all flopped. Though I really like the actor who played Marcus.

I can definitely get behind their older ad campaign. that's interesting about Marcus. I'm intrigued--I didn't know he did anything else. any recommendations?

His name is Bobb'e Thompson. I enjoyed his work in Role Models, Idle Wild, and 30 Rock. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1442928/

The problem i have with this ad being PS home is i dont think they would go all out for it,i think it might be something new....or a Sony con lol that would be pretty fun :P
