Too Human removed from Xbox Live Games on Demand

1/19/13 11:30am

As you may recall, Silicon Knights not only unsuccessfully sued Epic Games (claiming the Unreal Engine didn’t work as well as promised) but the whole thing also wound up backfiring in “epic” fashion. Epic Games successfully counter-sued and Silicon Knights was ordered to pay Epic $4.45 million in damages and to recall and then destroy all copies of games it had developed using Unreal Engine 3.

Well, it turns out physical retail copies aren’t the only games being recalled, as a recent Twitter post by an XBLA fan revealed, Too Human (along with its demo, gamer pics, and themes) has been removed from the Xbox Live Games on Demand service and is no longer available for download on XBLA.

While this certainly sucks for the Silicon Knights team, I don't think there were too many people itching to download Too Human so… ummm… it could have been worse right?

Don't forget them handling the remake of Metal Gear Solid as well.

TOO HUMAN? MORE LIKE POO HUMAN.

I'm really sorry but that entered my head and I just needed to get it out before I died of having horrible "jokes" in my brain.

Sounds like a job for "Didn't you know Gaming!"

Honestly I don't think the Twin Snakes is really all THAT great... I mean they did a great job with it, but what it really boils down to is that they took MGS1 and made it more like MGS2... And uh... Yeah...

And that's the reason why I like it. Going back to play the original on the PSOne is an exercise in frustration. It hasn't age well at all, like many 3D games from that era. There's no dual shock support so you can't stalk, you automatically go prone when you pull out the sniper rifle and you can't fire until you do making the duel with Sniper Wolf harder than it needs to be, you have to have the keycards in you active inventory slot to open locked doors and a myriad of other issues. For someone who likes doing a zero kill/no alerts run it's impossible to go back and play the original, that and the fact they kept one line of dialog in place (whether Meryl lives or dies) in the final phone call with Solidus that became canon for all future installments of the series - and that's more important than any of the gameplay tweaks.

Honestly, both of these companies tried to screw the other over. EPIC didn't deliver on their promise that Unreal 3 could do everything they wanted to do with Too Human, and SK shouldn't have tried such a sleezy way of overcoming what they did.

While I may or may not agree whats happening to Silicon Knights....If I recall the Judge only said for all Silicon Knights Games physically to be recalled and destroyed. Something about this case now seems to be really odd

It included the source code and digital copies, they got the heavy end of the hammer dropped on them

And this, my fellow g1s, is why we need to be careful about what we delete off of our hard drives.

And if any of you have a digital copy of the game (or the themes, the demo, or gamer pics), can you check your download history and see if it's still downloadable that way?
