Uh-Oh. Resident Evil 6 has on-disk DLC...
On disk DLC has been discovered on Resident Evil 6.
A modder has claimed to have found files for Resident Evil 6 DLC, on the disk. The DLC includes a new difficulty titled No Hope, 2 multiplayer map packs, 4 multiplayer modes, and an Ada co-op campaign. However, No Hope is the only one on the disk while the other ones are "partially on disk".
In response Capcom has stated
They should have stated this right away, but it does make up for it for a big part.
Bam. Capcom clarifies on disc DLC is FREE. Paid DLC is not on Disc: http://www.capcom-unity.com/brelston/blog/2012/10/10/free-re6-dlc-inboun...
There's a difference between cutting content for time (or budget) constraints, and purposefully charging you twice for the same thing. What you first said is the former, what Capcom does is the latter.
Oh that thing? I just call it Gears of Zombies.
Capcom doesn't want to change....
well, at least it's not as bad as the Street Fighter X Tekken fiasco.
You have a better chance asking for world peace and an end to world hunger. Remember, this is the same company that released Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom with extra characters and still made you buy the dlc to unlock Jill & Shuma.
Trust me, people complain about EA too when they screw up, but to be honest Capcom is still the worst company of the two. Unlike Capcom, EA didn't get rid of one of their bigger franchises (Madden Football) out of spite cause John Madden retire. EA also never broke off the end of a game (final stage, boss, and ending) and sold is as dlc, like Capcom did with Azura's Wrath. Like I said, EA screws up too, but no where near as bad as Capcom does. At least many of the decisions EA has made has been for the sake of making a profit. You can call it greedy or otherwise. Capcom's decisions seems to be made out of spite. When Keiji Inafune (creator of Mega Man) left the company they said that this wouldn't change their future Mega Man prospects. Yet every single Mega Man game that was set to release got cancelled. Next, lets look at the SF X Tekken dlc debacle. Originally fans were suppose to buy the PS Vita version to unlock the extra characters. So after duping a lot of people (who I admit should have known better) into buy this 2nd version of the game then they decided to released the access code to unlock the characters on the PS3 without the Vita version (making that version worthless, unless you really want to play it portable). Even on the Vita itself. Every game on the PSN Vita store is slightly cheaper than the physical version, except for Capcom. They are the only company that refused to lower the price of their digital copy. I know this was very long, but I just wanted you to understand where people come from with their hate for this once beloved company Capcom is worse than EA. EA is just simply more successful, so they have a bigger target on them.
Personally, I liked Mega Man 9 and 10, Ace Attorneys, Ghost Trick, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Bionic Commando Rearmed 1 & 2 and kind of enjoyed Lost Planet 2 too even though there's tons of stuff there that could've been better. I also heard that Dragon's Dogma, Asura's Wrath, Street Fighter 4, Monster Hunter series, Dead Rising and Devil May Cry are pretty decent. Other than that, I agree with you.
There has been unaccesable data on discs since dawn of man and I never felt cheated for not being able to access it "even if I've already paid for it". I don't see it making a big difference if such data is later made accessable for you for small extra charge.
Would it have been better if those locked characters in Street Fighter x Tekken on 360 was never made available for you and only way to access it would be with cheat devices? Then it would be like that whole Hot Coffee thing in San Andreas. Or would it be better if there was no trace of the characters on disc and they still released them as a DLC? It still would be content that was taken out of the game just to sell it back to you, but at least it wouldn't be on-disc DLC.
I don't think many people would pay for a new difficulty whether it was on the disc or not.
Hmm, in order to obtain these "dlc's" you have to complete certain objectives in game to unlock. Like Ada's campaign, extra characters in mercenaries, and alt. Costumes for all. And not to mention the vids these modders displayed showed costumes that you can unlock through, oh I don't know, RESIDENTEVIL.NET?
DLC on disk is not that bad if it was used differently. Watch, Extra Credits Season 1, Episode 10, "Project 10 Dollar," to understand what I mean. Capcom, on the other hand, is pure evil.
I don't buy capcom games anymore. It's not for this stuff, though this is horse shit. It's because they haven't made a good game in over 8 years.
I do not approve of this. Remember a decade ago when you would unlock all of these new modes for free by actually playing a game or completing it? Now it costs money and is locked from you despite physically being on the disc you use. Thanks a lot Capcom.
ok now it's pretty clear that capcom is just doing this for the lulz... and the money
Trust me, many people are still very whinny over companies such as EA (have you heard about the FIFA 13 on wii? It's the same game as FIFA 12!). However, with Capcom being such a well respected company in the past, we come to unleash more of our rage on them than we do with other companies (EA comes second though).
I understand why people are upset about this, but how's come nobody gets whinny when every other 3rd party developer does it. Namely EA, who is WAY worse than Capcom about it.
