Ultra Pre-Order IV - Ultra Street Fighter IV available for pre-order now
Editor's Note: Given the mentioned release date is a Monday, it's safe to say it's only a placeholder. However, that isn't to say the date providing a hint about its intended release window isn't out of the realm of possibility, as a March release would fit the "early 2014" timeframe announced by Capcom.
I'm guessing the retailer is expecting the game to launch between January and March.
At EVO 2013, Yoshinori Ono revealed to the public that yet another update for the Street Fighter IV series is in the works, abandoning the long title it has grown over the years, and now just calling it "Ultra Street Fighter IV". This expansion will feature 5 new characters: Hugo, Poison, Elena, Rolento, and a mystery character to be revealed at a later date (confirmed to not be either Asura, nor anyone who has been in a fighting game before), and 6 new stages. The fact that these additions are coming straight out of Street Fighter x Tekken has raised some concern from fans, thinking its nothing more than a case of copy and paste, but this is still a nice addition to keep SFIV interesting nonetheless. There's also the fact that this will contain another rebalancing to the current roster as well, adding another change of pace for the game.
If all these things have gotten your combo-making hands twitching in anticipation, then you can pre-order a physical copy of Ultra Street Fighter IV now on Amazon.com for $40. As an extra incentive to get the game this way, buying the physical copy will also nab you all the costume DLC released throughout SFIV free of charge. What's even more interesting about this listing though is its approximated release date. Capcom has previously stated that we should expect the game to come around early 2014, but according to Amazon, this game will more specifically be available on March 31, 2014. We're not sure if this has been confirmed by Capcom or not, but perhaps we should expect the game to be released on early or late March after all.
Comment Questions: So who here is waiting to get Ultra Street Fighter IV? Who do you think is the mystery character, or when do you think they will finally be revealed? Do you think the release date listed on Amazon is accurate? Will you be taking advantage of this offer or will you wait to just download it as DLC for just $5?
no, capcom makes expansions to get money for new characters.. older games(not necessarily from the Street Fighter series) from past generations let players unlock new characters for free by beating the main arcade mode with each characters.. like Marvel vs Capcom 1 ( the only Marvel Verses Capcom game worth playing in my opinion). They could do the same with current fighting games and include all characters for free and let players unlock them by beating the main game mode if they weren't so greedy.
Capcom makes expansions because people want more characters and updates to the games.
I see what you did there
BAT CREDIT CARD!!!
The secret character is...George Clooney!
I just hope the Steam version of the DLC comes close to when the PS3/360 DLC/retail version comes out. It was agonizing waiting nearly a year for the SF x Tekken DLC to come to the PC (but at least they made it 75% off for two weeks to compensate.) SFIV has usually had patches come no shorter than 3 months after the console patches. Hopefully in 2014, whoever is in charge of the PC updates will speed things up and get it close to when it is for the consoles.
What Maximillian is detailing is that Ayano stated that the next Street Fighter (Street Fighter V) should not be expected to come out until 2018 (yeesh!). That part is confirmed. What hasn't been confirmed is whether or not the exact date for Ultra Street Fighter IV's release is March 31, 2014. Most likely a placeholder, but still more precise in contrast to what trailers are saying just "Early 2014".
You're not sure it's confirmed by capcom or not? Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fulo6Ro-DzQ
There is one character left that fits the description pretty well, but 'Remembering' who it is, I'm not looking forward to the future announcement
While I don't think the vanilla announcer is returning, there have been hints in the latest trailer for the game that a new announcer is coming in for voicework.
Wait... i remember they said it had everything previous already with this game... ok what? i guess i miss heard.. welp.. that's bullshit that now i see the DLC is not included when its most likely already on disc.
"No one that's been in a fighting game" takes out almost EVERY Capcom character. The only ones left are Barry Burton and the Yasachi. From Vulgus. GOOGLE IT!
what a joke.
I hated Super street fighter 4 and never brought any DLC or the Arcade expansion..so i have no intent on wasting money on this crap. It's just a way for Capcom get more money from suckers, if it wasn't they would have released all the Super, arcade and Ultra content on the first Street fighter 4 game for free on disc before now instead of keep coming up with new content to make money. it's also a way for them not to have to make Street fighter 5 yet. I doubt this is the last expansion they come out with since they said they have no intention to start work on Street Fighter 5 yet. I almost guaranty there will be a few more "Final" updated versions of Street Fighter before long..
1. Me, but only if A. Capcom brings back the old announcer voice from SF4, and B. Capcom puts all those pre-order bonuses in the expansion versions.
2. Mega Man X.
4. I'll be downloading the $5 for sure, if that isn't a typo. Which indeed it is.
