Valve Launches Steam Community Market Beta

12/13/12 12:00pm
tl;dr

Sell your useless Team Fortress 2 crap for Steam Wallet Funds? HELL YES.

So Valve, being the awesome company they are, has launched a beta for a community market. The market is currently compatible with TF2, though other games will be compatible later. So how does this work? You select an item, pick a selling price, put in the market, and wait for Steam Funds to roll in.

Steam, of course, receives a cut of the pay, but you set your own selling price, which is awesome. It's still in the beta, but it's available to anyone right now. Unfortunately, you can't trade items you got before this (except for Mann Co. Crates). So, what do you think? Is this a smart move like Valve, or will this be like Diablo III's auction house? Post your opinions in the comments below.

Well that could make getting rid of crates a lot easier.

If I can sell crates, then that's more than enough for me to just sell them for a couple of pennies...and rule the world one crate at a time. MWA HA HA...

I was hoping to perhaps sell a few hats or items I don't use but nope, the only things I can sell are my crates. That kinda sucks. Got so many Vintage items I really don't need.

You know, you could always go to the Steam forums and trade those for metal, then trade the metal for something you actually want. You can find poeple trading even games over there.
