Vanillaware will work with Aksys to bring Muramasa on Vita to North America

1/30/13 5:02pm

Muramasa Oboro is arriving on Vita in Japan this March, but luckily us westerners won’t have to wait too long. Aksys Games has confirmed they will be localizing the Vita port for North America under the new title Muramasa Rebirth. They did not announce an official release date.

This sidescroller action game will sport “HD graphics, new controls, DLC, and will be re-localized” for a new translation. With two stories, weapon crafting, and the ability to utilize up to 108 diverse swords; hopefully this is the killer app Vita has been waiting for. What do you g1s think?

This is cool and all, but I know Vanillaware draws all their 2D artwork in HD so it begs the question why did they wait nearly 4 years after the release of the original Wii version to port it to an HD capable platform? This is really cool for Vita owners, but I've been hoping for a digital/retail copy for the 360 for a pretty long time now. Hopefully this will be the nudge in the direction of that finally happening.

I bought the original on launch day. I'd rather play this on a wii u. Options to both play it on the tv and gamepad would have creamed my jeans. Also buying it for $20 off the eshop.

I wish this was on PS3. Or maybe have a sequel for PS3/PS4?

Never was able to find the Wii version and I just got a Vita, so this is perfect for me.

I'm pumped for this. I always wanted to play it when it came out on the Wii, but decided to wait for the price to drop a bit. After a while, I just couldn't find it anymore ;_;

exactly wat is the resolution of the PSvita, i believe the Wii is 480p so im sure that will already look nice on the PSvita plus i hope they dont release it for $40 unless they plan to release a load of new content since this has been out for the Wii for a few years already

so we know this game will most likely cost $40 (as most vita games do) so for that it better be 3 times as good as the wii version which can be bought for a mere $10 used or less. don't get me wrong it's a great game but the extras better be worth it.
