VOTE! Super Smash Bros. Melee/Brawl for Evo 2013!
This is one of the biggest opportunities the Smash community has had in a while. Let's show the world that Smash ain't dead and get back into Evo! Let's just hope the Brawl disaster at Evo 2008 doesn't happen again.
"Click here to visit Evolution Championship Series' Facebook page and vote for Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl to be implemented into the next Evo!
Currently, Melee is destroying the competition over the likes of popular games such as Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition 2012! That's incredible!
After you vote, spread the message to everyone you know! Could we actually see the return of Super Smash Bros. back into the Evo series?
It's up to you guys to decide!"
As written by Omni at Smashboards.com
"In Evo 2008, the Evo staff decided to have items on for the brawl tournament. Evidently, in the final round, the champion won with a final smash. This lead to a MASSIVE backlash from smash community because they put items on despite that Evo followed melee's standard ruleset a year back. The backlash was so severe that the smash community turned their backs on Evo. There hasn't been a smash tournament at Evo since."

May i ask, what was the Evo 2008 Brawl disaster?
Thanks so much for featuring my blog! This is awesome
Melee has evolved a long way since Brawl's release. The world's best player is in fact a Peach and Marth is getting a bit rare these days. Shiek is much more heavily played than him, and Ice Climbers, Captain Falcon, Puff and Peach are also very popular at high level play. People have also placed high with Luigi, Mario, Ganon and Pikachu(!). Check out the Return of Melee stream in two weeks!
Then vote for Brawl. Any publicity for the Smash community is good publicity in my book.
Vote for Mario Party 2 then, haha
Like I said, we all still remember the Brawl disaster of 2008. I think Melee will be very hype, like KoF was last year.
Alas, no mods at Evo.
If people are having fun, why would you want to stop them? And "Fox on Final Destination" is not true at all. Final Destination is not the ultimate competitive stage and is in fact one of the least balanced normal stages because of the lack of platforms. And only two Fox mains have won a 100+ tourney since Brawl's release.
Melee does get views, but not on the level of regular FGC stuff of course, but what did you expect of a 11 year old game? Big tournaments this year were Apex 2012 (318 for Melee, 400 for Brawl, and doubles for both), Zenith, Melee-FC, Impulse and The Big House 2. Next week there's a big regional tournament Kings of Cali, and the week after that Return of Melee 5. Smash will also be featured at Northeast Championships this year. Check out one of the streams to see how many people care about Melee.
id say melee is better cuz it requires more skill than brawl does
Sorry but this poll means nothing, just because Melee is getting way more votes than UMVC3, that doesn't equate to people actually watching it. UMVC3 is the most watched fighting game, very few people care about competitive Melee anymore, and picking either Melee or Brawl will just split their fanbase even more.
Heck no. Brawl is better.
aaahh i see. thanks, i tried looking up what happened but i couldn't find anything!
Wile were at it, might as well throw some Mario Party in the mix for those few fighting minigames.
Neither. Smash bros shouldn't be played at a competitive level because the whole point of the game is that it's a frantic fighter with items used and from what I've seen smash bros tournaments always come down to people playing as metaknight or fox on final destination with no items which makes it uninteresting to me... sorry I'll pass on this but if I had to I'd vote melee
Super Smash Bros?
Let's throw a Angry Birds tournament while we are at it
I'm a rabid smash fan and I love all 3 iterations
but honestly,it doesn't belong at Evo.Especially after the 2008 stream it was just lackluster and overall boring, even up to the final matches there was little to no hype and it just felt awkward and wrong.
Would it be fun to have smash at Evo again? Yes
Would it be necessary? Absolutely Not
I'm partial to Brawl, as I consider it an overall superior title, although Melee does beat it out in a few categories.
