What Nintendo game did the Infamous franchise look like in the beginning?

Since 2009, gamers have been harnessing destructive super powers in the popular action adventure franchise, Infamous. Yet, it was recently revealed at one point during the series’ development, Infamous had various prototypes, which drew similarities to a particular Nintendo franchise that sees the player fishing, catching bugs, talking to animals, and with the main antagonist being a talking raccoon.

That’s right, Chris Zimmerman of Washington-based developer Sucker Punch recently revealed Infamous, for “about a year”, looked like Nintendo’s popular colorful community simulator, Animal Crossing, but ultimately didn't come together. Sucker Punch, however, "worked hard" to complete that preliminary vision, which included the super hero ideal (a main trait in the final product), but also featured an outlandish gang of balloon-stealing purple gorillas.

The Infamous franchise now centers on powerful super humans and the choices they must make with the immensely destructive abilities they are given, whilst gangs and a disagreeing government system stand in their way. Personally, I choose this plot over the thievery of balloons by some brightly colored primates, but that’s just me; what do you think, g1s? Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below!
