Wii U planned to have "accomplishments"
As we all know a trophy/achievement system was absent from Nintendo's last home console, however the "Big N" has previously commented on the matter by saying a reward system will be present in the Wii U through their online social network, Miiverse.
A new rumor states that the Wii U will have "accomplishments"; the origin of the rumor comes from a future racing game called Project Cars that will be launching for the Wii U early next year.
Back at last year's E3, Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime commented on the matter by saying that the Wii U accomplishment system will be "Developer Driven" and that Nintendo will not make it mandatory for developers to include "accomplishments" in every game.
If you’re unfamiliar with achievement/trophy systems, they are basically rewards you get for completing challenges within the game. Typically these challenges were designed to lengthen the game's lifespan by enticing players to test their skill so that they could rank up their Gamerscore or add to their trophy shelves.

Above you can see the source of the name "accomplishments" which came from the official Project Cars forums (a login is required by the way). But the name is still a rumor, it's possible that the developer used the name as a placeholder untill Nintendo gives the official word. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
So, g1s what do ya think? Will you be gunning for every last one of those "accomplishments"? Or do you think reward systems are a joke? Let me know in the comments!

HA! i find this name to be hilarious, just because it sounds so stupid. "Hey dude, i just got an accomplishment for beating world 1-1!"

I really dislike achievement systems. They tend to ruin online experiences and pad out short games for no reason. Rage is a prime example of achievements for the fucking hell of it.
Steeler
Achievements are cool to show of to your friends. Not the score but the special ones for a game like doing that really hard challenge or finding that funny secret. It's cool to be able to have proof that you beat that level with only spit balls.

They should implement a system similar to Metroid Prime Trilogy's, where in-game tokens are earned and can unlock bonus content.

i like that feature. i've been enjoying mgs4 more than ever thanks to the trophy support. however, i dont like the name, its just a synonym of achievement. i think N needs to come out with something new. the PS got it right with trophies

I'm usually not big on this feature either way but if it'll get people to shut up about Nintendo being slow in the industry then it's alright by me.

I'm excited to have accomplishments in the game, just for the factor that there's something else to work for other than just playing the game.
It's not because I want my virtual penis to be whale large, but because I'm an OCD maniac who can't help but finish every single game I own to it's 100% state in whatever way possible.
So yes, I would be VERY happy.
Also, imagine if these accomplishments gave us play coins that we could spend on different unlockables for the menus in the Wii U? such as official Nintendo backgrounds, voices for menus, and etc? That would be fantastic.

I love going for achievements, so this is a plus for me. Although Nintendo needs to ditch the name "Accomplishments" and go with the name "Wiiwards." :D
