The domains are registered on the rest of a Chinese named Chen Juan, and there are numerous other Xbox domains that Microsoft has not shown interest. We do not know with certainty why just Juan's address is interesting, but all support the rumors that the console will be called Xbox 8
It is also worth mentioning that Microsoft has secured the rights to XboxPhone.com, XboxTablet.com and XboxLiveTV.com, which also had been registered by this enterprising Juan.
Microsoft has already acquired the rights to several Xbox-8-related URLs.

It can be tricky to tie in what makes the console unique. I mean, Sony can always just add a number, but then over time, their consoles can quickly lose their identity.
With 720, MS would be putting themselves in a spiral (pun intended). The next system would be the 1080 and it would just keep going. Do you really want to buy a system called the Xbox 1440?
I tried to come up with a better name than the Wii U and, despite all the suggestions that I read online, nothing ever struck me as BETTER and few things were as creative. I mean, a lot of people were saying Super Wii... seriously.

Super Wii couldn't work simply 'cause the name Wii it's self is just too susceptible to dick jokes. I wish Nintendo would drop the Wii name completely, and go back to calling it the 'Nintendo somethingorother'. Either that, or release a version of the Wii U that's grey and purple, like the Super Nintendo. :B

I very much doubt they'll call it Xbox 8, but then again, this is a Steve Ballmer-run Microsoft (even though I know he's not as involved with the Xbox part as he is with the Windows side) these days, and that's already a mess as it is.
