XCOM's First DLC, Slingshot, Releases on December 4
On December 4, XCOM: Enemy Unknown will release its first DLC called Slingshot, which is more of a simple mission pack than a real expansion.
Here's the situation:
You can have the option to recruit Zhang, a former member of the Chinese Triads who is also a heavy weapons guy. But first, you need to escort him to safety once he appears via a Council mission.
What makes this mission pack stand out is that once Zhang becomes a part of your XCOM team, he gets really high stats and an exclusive look and voice pack. This is the first escort mission that takes place in different settings: a graveyard, a train station and an alien battleship IN FLIGHT. In addition, you can encounter Crysallids much earlier with this mission pack, giving you an earlier opportunity to autopsy their carcasses, and you can get earlier accesses to powerful weapons.
The DLC will cost $6.99 on PSN and Steam or 560 MS Points on Xbox Live. If you feel like kicking alien ass again, I don't see any harm picking this one up. I expected something a little more, though.
time to play the waiting game on how great or it another POS DLC coming out
I'm a little confused. Is it that graveyard and train station didn't show up as escort maps before? I'm not too far in, but I've already been to a graveyard and train station on none escort missions. So unless it's new escort maps, then I think you might be misinformed.
I'm not going to pay 7 bucks for this. Maybe if it drops to like... 3 bucks in a steam sale, then I'll be interested in picking it up, but I'd rather see them release something more substantial.
It would have been fine had the new character be like a hero unit where he has some unique abilities and not just beefier stats.
ehh seems a bit little. however i like the idea of having a new map to play on. I'll probably download this. i love xcom.
$7 sounds pretty steep for such little content. While I don't have Xcom (yet) I would pass on this
I'm happy for the new maps, 5 seems a little small
"I am heavy weapons guy. And this is my GIANT FUCKING PLASMA CANNON"
Cant say that this sounds too exciting... getting a new soldier... meh, getting three new areas, pretty cool, but the earlier Crysallids sounds more like a patch than anything else.
