christenm123 Presents a Brief Q&A With James Rolfe (The AVGN)

A few weeks ago I sent an E-Mail to James Rolfe, who is better known on ScrewAttack as The Angry Video Game Nerd, to answer a little interview for me. I tried my best to keep the interview brief, we all know how busy the guy is. If James happens to read this blog, a big "Thank You!" for taking some time out of your morning to answer my questions! Lets just hope I didn't ask some that are too common.

christenm123:We have seen bits and pieces of your video game collection from the Angry Nerd videos. Approximately how many games would you say you own?

James:Too many. I'm not sure what the actual count is, but it's probably a thousand-something games.

christenm123:Do you own any particularly rare or valuable games?

James:Yeah, the rarest/ most valuable ones off the top of my head are: Super Noah's Ark 3D, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and the 3 Zelda CDI games.

christenm123:This question is more something I wondered. Are you a fan of old school WWF wrestling? Can we expect to see any Nerd reviews of old NES/SNES wrestling games? I ask this because it seems like you are a fan of just about everything, however pro wrestling has never came up.

James:In a nostalgic way, I am. And reviewing wrestling games is still a possibility.

christenm123:What are your thoughts on Nintendo leaning more towards the casual userbase these days?

James:I think it's alienated some of the long time fans, but whenever there's a new Zelda, Mario or Metroid, I'm always there.

christenm123:While I'm sure making Nerd reviews is extremely time consuming, do you still play games just for fun? If so, what are you currently playing?

James:I've been playing Grand Theft Auto 4 some nights, when I feel like giving myself a break, and it's the ultimate temptation to stop playing old crappy games.

christenm123:Do you own an XBOX 360 or a PS3? If not, do you have any plans on getting one?

James:PS3 is the only major game console I don't own.

christenm123:Lets say hypothetically you were offered a major contract with a movie studio. Would you want to continue making Nerd movies in your spare time, or would that project be abandoned?

James: Right now I feel I couldn't abandon it, but if that happened, I would make the movie, and put the nerd videos as a smaller side project, with videos coming out less frequently. The way it used to be.

christenm123:What would be your favorite and least favorite video, either AVGN or Cinemassacre?

James:I'm happy with the atmosphere and environment I created in The Deader the Better with the fake cemetery. With AVGN, I'm not sure what my favorite video is. It usually depends on the game, and I think the Bible Games episode was pretty funny.

Lets all get the word out that James doesn't own a PS3, so he can get them sent to his mail box, like with the Sega Saturn! The dude deserves it!
