inFamous: The Good Side

Just finished inFamous and I gotta say what a game the gameplay is awesome, controls are nearly damn perfect, and the action is intense. It adds, without a doubt, another triple A title into the PS3's library.

But I'm here to talk about the story. So here's a head start. You play as Cole a bike messenger who is neither important nor special and one day a package he was delivering goes KABOOM! and blows up, destroying nearly half of the city and killing thousands in the process. Cole, barely alive, wakes up in the middle of the destroyed city finds his friend Zeke and is sent to the nearest hospital where he is treated by his girlfriend, Trish. Cole wakes up and finds out that he has super electric powers. With the city now isolated by the government and ruled by the city gangs, Cold starts to train his powers.

*Spoiler ALERT

We now know Cole is training his power and to his perspective, he's pretty much the strongest guy he knows. The city is isolated with no government, rules or laws and the gang is ruling the city. Now, with power like Cole's there is two paths. One, becoming the hero and saving all the people from the gang members. Or two, use his power to become a terror is the city and rule over the people. Since inFamous is still a game Cole isn't able to join the gang members and actually rule the city but it offers a karama system.
It is this karma system that indicates the inner greed and passion of people. Think that I'm over thinking things? Well keep listening (or reading).
By this point all of you should know that inFamous allows you to decide if you want to do a good deed or bad deed. Often times the decisions aren't really that heavy but it will indicate the pressure of the character, Cole.
Only having played as the hero the infamous side will be omitted.

During the tar mission where tanks filled with tar is sickening the water and people. The player has the choice of overloading the tar, which will destroy it but exhilarate the pumping of the tar causing to pollute the water even more, or destroy it by using a shock wave, allowing the tar to spray on Cole's body and making him sick. During this Moya tells Cole that he should think for the people rather then himself. Roughly quoting "I know it hurts Cole, but this is how it has to be." with Cole replying "Yeah... I know." Obviously, Cold isn't happy that he should be sprayed with tar, but simply sickening the people is wrong. This causes a lot of pressure and conflict on Cole and if it were to be a normal man, he'd probably go mad or become evil.
Cole's power is electricity. Electricity usually isn't controllerable since it shocks whoever tries to touch it. Therefore, no one tries to control since they know its going to hurt them. However, Cole knows that it (the good decisions) is going to hurt him, cause him stress, and possibly kill him. But he touches what a normal man would even consider and thus Cole is able to control what is uncontrollable, separating him from the others.

Zeke. Zeke is Cole's best friend and close as a brother. He risks his life trying to help Cole and is always the one who encourages him. However, when the Ray Sphere was in his hand he indulges, activates it, and takes off with Kessler. Zeke can be reflected if a normal person was in the situation. He praises the hero but actually is jealous of him since the hero has fame and power. Zeke doesn't necessarily shows it but tries to stand out more than Cole. When someone is question "Would you kill a person for a million dollars?" Most people would say no. However, their greed for a million dollars is always present and caused by the fact that they don't actually own a million dollars. But when they are confronted with real, tangible money their greed starts to burst out, having second thoughts. This is reflected by the Ray Sphere. Zeke's desire was to have powers and when he seems to be a honest and nice guy his greed for power is actually overwhelming. So overwhelming that he was willing to kill hundreds of people just to obtain power. Of course for his case his tangible greed was the Ray Sphere, eventually giving in. As a result (or punishment one may say), he never gets his desired powers, kills hundreds of people during the process, indirectly kills his best friend's and loses Cole. It can show how people give into greed and karma biting their ass.

Well... I'm a little overwhelmed by this blog. I tend to over think when it comes to plot. I'm pretty sure I wrote this entire thing pretty sloppy but I just loved the game so much I had to express it. And with that ending! Man! I'm pretty sure I'm going to continue with this when something come to mind and write another one about the Bad Side. So take care until then.

few things wrong with this.

Cole's name is Cole, not cold. Just a typo though. And Zeke takes off with KESSLER, not spencer. And when he activates the ray sphere, nothing happens, no people die, no powers are gained. Good Blog though. Glad to see there are more people who love inFAMOUS.

Woops typo and brain dead
