Hello, I'm here for something half original.
You know that guy... Bossthunder I think, who did all thoose 'My Favorite Game Beginning With The Letter...' In the end of his last blog he said he wanted others to do like him. Ever since he started I thought it oughta be funny. But now I wanted to be original so I am practicly doing the same thing, but with gaming genres.
This time it's adventure, well.. Actually it's action/adventure.
Prophet: I see a whip... A castle... Someone struggling in vain... It's night, and there's a symphony playing...
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Admit that you thought that it would be Zelda? Hehe, sorry :3
A little more than a year ago I got a Playstation and 50 games to it, one of them was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I had not even heard of Castlevania when I tried this game out, I were blown away of it. It's in 2D and has a Metroid feel to it. It works great! You also find weapons and armor on the way to Dracual. You also gather Expirience Points so there is some RPG in there to. You play as Alucard, Dracula's son (Alucard is Dracula backwards.) He's one of my favorite videogame characters.
That's badass!
Gameplay is rather simple, you jump, you attack, you secondary attack and you transform into different creatures. Theese creatures you transform to makes you able to go through certain areas where you couldn't go before. So when you get a new transformation (there's 3 different transformations) you have to go back and check if you can go anywhere with them. It sounds boring but it's actually pretty fun, that is a prove that the game is good.
The graphics isn't mindblowing but they do they're job. As I said earlier it was released on the Playstation, when noone gave two shits about 2D sprites. Thoose who didn't gave it a try missed something. This isn't a game I normally would like, it's not usually my cup of tea. But the game is so damn good that it makes it enjoyable for me to. If you have a Playstation I reccomend... No! I demand you to get it! You'll most likely enjoy it.
Now, the best part of the WHOLE game!
You'll get three chanses to figure it out.
No, it's not the gameplay.
Nope, it's not the graphics..
For gods sake! No it's not the replay value!
It's the fricken' music!
Best soundtrack of any game, except Mega Man 2. There's a reason this game is called Symphony of the Night! It's a frickin' wonder to the ear. Don't belive me?
This one always gives me the creeps. It has that 1700s ball, perfectly with this game's title.
I don't know why, but I always feels that this is the "theme" of this game. I guess I just played in that area much. This sounds like what you would hear in an elevator inside Dracula's castle.
Yeah! This is more like it! It really gets your blood pumped. I guess I only pick one more so I don't get like 50 Youtube videos on here.
It's a sad song, it's kinda reepy actually. Just one more I promise!
Ah yes. My favorite song of the whole game. I think it's this one! xD I always went to this stage to listen to it!
Okay, enough of youtube videos! bottomline - The music fucking owns! If you've read my blogs you probably know that when it comes to videogame music I'm more of a Mario guy than, let's say Final Fantasy. So I don't really know why I like theese songs. But yeah, I like them ^.^
The replayvalue is... Probably the best I've seen evar. Your'e supposed to find every room and I think objects to get 200%, if I remember right. The final boss is Simon Belmont who is possesed by Dracula, and I think if you get 200% you get to fight Dracula instead. Pretty cool. I don't know anymore to say about the game. It's just a right throught awesome expirence. It gets 5/5, 10 stars, A+. You get the idea.
The next time I'll be doing a fighting game! You can go on and specculate about it meanwhile your whating for it.
One of the best games for the Playstation. The music is definately up there for some of the best songs in any games. Good blog overall. For a fighting game though...... King of Monsters 2? Eternal Champions? Or something with some good tunes in it?

I think this is a great idea. Doing your favorite game for each genre will allow you to pick from more choices which helps in the quality of the blog, believe me.
I've never actually played SotN but I do indeed love Castlevania games. Most recently I got Order of Ecclesia on the DS and it is one of my favorite DS games.
Very nice first entry in your series. I'm looking forward to seeing the other genre's entries.
I've never really gotten into the Castlevania series. I have a PS2, so maybe I should try to find a copy of this one. Keep it up!
