NEW G1 SUBMISSION SEGMENT – RingtoneAttack – Episode 1: Mega Man I, II, & III.

Hey g1’s,

What is the one thing that most of us g1’s have in common, besides the fact that we are members of ScrewAttack and love gaming? We all have CELL PHONES!!! And if you are like me, you enjoy customizing your cell phone to fit your personal tastes. I personally enjoy customizing my phone with video game ringtones and alerts.

So a few weeks back, a college friend asked me for some of the ringtones I had made for my Sony Ericsson phone so he could convert them, using iTunes, and put them on his new 3G iPhone. And this got me thinking.

The iPhone is a very popular phone with very limited customization when it comes to ringtones. You either have to buy the ringtone from the iTunes store or have purchased a song from the iTunes store that can be converted into a ringtone using the Convert to Ringtone option in iTunes. However, there is a hacks way around this.

By simply taking any mp3 or wav file, changing the stop time to 30 seconds, converting the song using the AAC converter, and editing the m4a sound file produced to m4r, iTunes will recognize the file as a ringtone and allow you to use it on your iPhone. With this knowledge, I started making ringtones for my friend’s iPhone; starting with titles from the NES.

So with that being said, it is time to share the fruits of my labor with the g1 community! With the release of Mega Man 9 coming soon, I thought I would start this first episode of RingtoneAttack with the best 3 Mega Mans on the NES; Mega Man I, II, & III!!!

Mega Man

Mega Man Ringtones - iPhone

Mega Man Ringtones - .mp3

Mega Man II

Mega Man II Ringtones - iPhone

Mega Man II Ringtones - .mp3

Mega Man III

Mega Man III Ringtones - iPhone

Mega Man III Ringtones - .mp3

These are complete game soundtracks made into ringtones for the iPhone and other phones that can play mp3’s. The soundtracks themselves were taken from NSF sound files that were extracted from NES Roms. All ringtones are 30 seconds in length; unless the length of the original song was less than that to begin with. The reason behind having the ringtones only 30 seconds in length is that iPhone will not play the song as a ringtone if it is longer than 30 seconds in length and the majority of other phones go to voicemail if the song is longer than 30 seconds. So it makes sense to just keep the ringtone at 30 seconds in length in order to save on phone memory.

That’s it for this edition of RingtoneAttack! During next week’s episode, I will have two more game soundtracks for you to download. Both will be titles from the NES, along with others over the next couple of weeks. Consider it as the NES Edition of RingtoneAttack.

So let me know how the ringtones work for you if you download them for your phones! Also, send me a message and let me know which NES titles you would like to see on RingtoneAttack! Until next time g1’s... IT’S A SECRET TO EVERYBODY!!!

Yeah, it's unfair to other blogs that get pushed off the front page.

I'm an old school gamer, but I'm still hip. Wait, when referring to oneself as, "Hip", does it reverse its meaning?

An Explaination Is In Order

That is just the thing... I spent a lot of time writing the blog and and making the ringtones, but the last 2 times I posted the blog, it was off the Recent Posts in a matter of minutes! That sort of thing really bugs me a lot! I just really want the g1's to take advantage of the effort I put into the ringtones.

I understand the hypocrisy , because I in turn, I am pushing other blogs of the Recent Posts to repost mine. Which makes it seem like I feel that other g1's blogs are not important as well... which is not the case.

I will not repost this article again. Thanks for the input Diana_Explosion and kain_kusanagi!!!

And your right this is a very well though out and written blog and doesn't deserve to pushed as fast as it was with most of the silly blogs that are written. I suggest posting in the forums.

thank you!

ohh man, thanks! I've been trying to find these without going to a site that gives me virus.

you're a life saver, man listening to this music while working makes me smile.
