Update: XBox 360 status

So if you check back to my last blog entry, you will see that I recently purchased an XBox. So, today, I decided I would go play it after i got back from my last class. So I turn it on and nothing happens. I check the power cord and the cord connecting the power adapter to the wall appeared to have fallen out of the adapter. So I plug it back in and hit the power button and this is what I see.

Yes. The Red Ring of Doom, on an Xbox no more than 2 weeks out of the box. Needless to say I was more than pissed. After spending a half hour on the phone with a machine, I got in touch with a customer service representative who told me to tell them everything that I did with the Xbox. Luckily, it turned out that the hardware failure was due to the power adapter and not the 360 itself, so I let the adapter cool and it works again. I was happy to sit down and enjoy some Call of Duty 4.

I will say though that I'm very dissatisfied with Microsoft's customer service. It took me way to long to connect to an actual person, and when I was connected, he needed me to repeat and spell EVERYTHING. It pissed me off and I just wonder why no one else ever points out how shitty several companies' customer service is.

What are your thoughts?

That sounds old news to me.
If your 360 would have explode or probably spit at your face then let everyone know about it.

I would be so pissed.

I would be so pissed.

Really?

The one thing that surprised me about Microsoft was that I received excellent customer service when I got the dreaded RROD. I was in and out in maybe twenty minutes.

You know how some people are chocoholics, well I'm an alcoholic!

Close call!

Pretty lucky! I thought that your xbox was considered RROD'ed when all 4 rings turned red, it looks like you only had 3 lit up?
Also,
about a month ago kotaku posted a story about what to do if your xbox RRODs:

1. Call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX
2. Get a reference number for your problem as quickly as possible.
3. Hang up and call the escalated support number, 866-506-3826.
4. Talk to someone who knows what they're doing.

I haven't RROD'ed (knock on wood) so I don't know if that is a better way to get results. Hope you have no more problems though!

Actually the four is the

Actually the four is the fake RROD. It happens when your video connector is not plugged in all the way or not at all. The three is the one you don't want.

MICROSOFT!

you're pissing a lot of people off

Microsoft's customer service really does suck

Yeah, i remember before when i called them up because a lot of my games froze on my XBox. they were adamant that the problem was with the disks and not the console, and practically shouted at me over the phone that i sould learn to take care of my game disks better. After many days of shouting at them they took the console in for repairs and WOULDNT you know it, the motherboard had fried. -sigh- stupid call center!

Don't bother with the phone center.

Register your console online and you can get all your support via computer. Faster and easier by far.

As for your situation similar thing happened to me. I didn't let the power brick charge up and I got the RROD.
