Another G1 mentioned Cave Story yesterday, and I would like to follow up on that. Cave Story isn't just a game like Zelda or Metroid. Cave Story is a game ON PAR with Super Metoid, Caastlevania IV and Link to the Past. I love this game. Has no one on this site played it?
The levels are designed very well. The jumps are certainly challengingm but you never get the sense that the game should have been designed differently like in some bad platformers. The enemies all have their place, and none are impossible.
You get a variety of sweet weapons in the game, each with 3 levels of attack. Some are unique, like the bubbler.
This game was lovingly crafted over 5 years by ONE man, a Japanese guy who goes by Studio Pixel. He did the programming, the graphics, and the music. In fact, he programmed the program that makes the music along with composing it.
...Which brings me to the music. This is some of the best video game music ever. It tugs at your soul during the game. I love it.
This game was created by an artist, and you should all go download it and play it. Did I mention it's freeware? Like, now and forever free for all?
