Just Die Already

Have you ever noticed, that in a large number of game series, most notably the three top Nintendo franchises that the main enemies always come back, again, and again, and again.

Its getting kind of ridiculous at this point. Bowser has come back at least five times, Ridley has come back about six, and Ganon, at least three times but I am not sure because I dont want to keep track of a storyline as messed up as Legend of Zelda. I get how Ridley comes back because he isnt completly dead, but Bowser, and Ganon? one fell in lava at least three times, and the other has been stabbed in the forehead twice!

Its o.k the first couple of times, but its about time for some new villans. By now Samus, Link, and Mario, are probably tired of killing them over, and over again.

and now for some music that will never die, ELVIS PRESLEY

Actually

If you string together all the times you defeat Bowser in each Mario game, so 3 in Galaxy, 1 in Sunshine, 3 in 64, 1 in World, 1 in Bros. 3, 12 (Worlds 1-8 & A-D) in Bros. 2 or Lost Levels, 8 in Bros....

That's 29 times in strictly Mario based series. Lets not even think about all of the handhelds and spinoffs that still involve Bowser and Mario beating his arse.

I love these franchises and don't think they could ever grow stale, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't mind a few changes now and then. The only problem is... that's not really what you gamers want, is it? How many of you thought Wart and the whole of Subcon was a waste? I loved it and I'm still hanging out for Wart's return.

Who misses the Koopa kids? Y'know, each with a bit of character. Imagine them in Paper Mario... that'd be awesome.

Who wanted to fight General Scales in StarFox Adventures, rather than a quick and silly return from... you know who. I mean seriously, what a load of bull.

Personally I thought Zant in Twilight Princess was really cool. *Spoilers*In both his cool villain and broken psychopath forms, I thought he was awesome. While I didn't mind fighting Ganon later, I was incredibly glad to have another villain at least for a little while.*spoiler end*

Unfortunately the typical responses I hear about these mentioned characters is that very few people like them, no matter how interesting or imaginative.

I sympathise with Nintendo. Gamers are fickle and hard to please.

agreed

ridley is okay...because he's a sub-boss before the main bad guy......but ganon c'mon how many master swords in the brain does he need...i agreed with your blog on the most part
