RingtoneAttack: NES Edition – Episode 2 – Zelda I & II

You’ve stepped over the rupee and discovered a secret! This week’s episode of RingtoneAttack is Zelda I & II. As always, there are ringtones for the iPhone and phones that can play mp3’s.

What is really great about songs from the Zelda series, are all the great sounds that go along with the music! Tones like the obtaining an item, finding a secret or the triforce, using the whistle, or even link dying, make great sounds for when you receive voicemails or text messages. Now this works great for phones that play mp3’s however, you can’t use them as message alerts for the iPhone; but they will make great ringtones non-the-less. As soon as I come across a way of making the iPhone use these ringtones as message alerts, I will let you all know.

That’s it for this edition of RingtoneAttack! During next week’s episode, I will again have two more game soundtracks for your downloading pleasure. Both will be again, titles from the NES, hence the NES Edition.

My Japanese phone only uses Mp4s. So I eventually converted the palace theme from Zelda 2 to the proper format but then under file properties it tells me that it is unavailable as a ringtone. I'll try to figure out and if I can get it to work, I will record a video promo of it in action as well as a bonus.

*update:

Yea, Japanese phones have an evil market that forces you to download the ringtones. They actually change formats and systems with every batch of phones to prevent people from making their own or sharing them casually. Something about downloaded ringtones being attached to your phone number, sigh. Ah well, my hopes for a ScrewAttack Theme ring tone go down the drain.

My request is you get a sound capture card and grab the ScrewAttack main theme that is played before Hard News and get it to the masses. Someday I too will have it, lol.

That totally sucks about the phone not being able to play mp3's!!! I was going to suggest just buying an American phone... but I am not sure if you actually live in Japan and it that would work because of it. But if I was going to suggest a phone, it would have to be a Sony Ericsson!!! I have a W810i and it plays the tones just fine.

Don't you worry about the Mega Man X ringtones... When I start the SNES Edition of RingtoneAttack... it will be one of the first ones posted!!! There are still quite a few great games for the NES that I will be sharing with the g1s so it won't really start for a few more weeks. I already have a great list of SNES titles that will be made into ringtones. So enjoy the NES Classics for now and I will let you all know when the SNES titles will become available.

Yeah, I know the NES has a ton of great music that can be used as ringtones (Actually, right now, Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears from the Castlevania series has come to my mind) but hearing Armored Armadillo's stage theme on Sidescrollers has brought back enjoyable old memories.:)
