Better graphics, sounds and more players on PC. Guys, stop playing FPSs on consoles. Come to the REAL DEAL!

No doubt computer games are better, but you have to agree that consoles are more affordable. To run a game like battlefield on PC your going to need a high end computer which will cost a lot more compared to a console. As much as I love to be a PC gamer, its easier for me to just get it on console.

Maybe here in Brazil it's different, because the taxes are different. Any new console game here costs between 110 and 140 DOLLARS. New Pc games here are from 55 to 65 dollars. Multiply that for EVERY game you buy and it gets ridiculous. I decided not to buy any of the consoles of this generation because at the time they were 1700 dollars here. With 800 dollars I built my high tech pc and I can play anygame. Maybe in other countries things are different (probably, lol), but I got 112 games on steam, so my pocket thanks me. :)

Any reviewer that said this single player is short didn't play on hard mode. As for the Vehicles they dont dominate as bad as people say they do if you dont suck just blow them up.

TNC420V.2.0

I played it on hardmode and the only thing that made it at all any longer was the fact that you spent a majority of your time hiding because of the cheap A.I. always knowing where you are.

I gave it a 7.5 myself and that's mostly because of the multiplayer. That aspect of the game is still very solid and enjoyable (although I continue to suck at it!). However, I finished the single player portion very, very quickly and felt that it was tacked-on and quite unmemorable. I'm not a fanboy of either this or COD but I do feel that COD tends to have the more accomplished (if no less generic) single player campaign of the two. Still, both franchises are built around the online play and if that's what you like there's lots to enjoy here. It's not blowing my mind at all but a few games a day provide a good tonic for boredom.

While I have not played the game myself I have to say that you did a good job Jared and I enjoyed the through review.

@SniperGod91 You seriously need to grow up dude. Who cares what the average is also if he truely was a COD fanboy as you say he is then I'm sure the score would be even lower. 7.5 is respectable and also you need to remember that reviews are simply just one's opinions on the game in question. As Jared said Battlefield has always been about the Online Multiplayer not story not co-op just straight up Online Multiplayer action. If you played 1942,Vietnam,Battlefield 2, or Battlefield 2142 then all of its single player is just an offline game with bot no story. Now I won't say anything about the story since I have yet to play the game myself. But I think you are being to harsh on Jared for his own review. Also you need to remember that COD itself isn't a bad game its a great game just as Battlefield and it tailors itself to a different kind of player just as does Battlefield.

No, I would not say I am mad more like frustrated because I really love this website, but it seems that every time I come and read a review from you Jared your always picking at the small minute details that could possibly make the game negative. For example, you gave Batman an 8 really? The average was about 9.5 it even got some 10's. I am not saying be a sheep and follow the rest but a 7.5 on Battlefield 3 really? Not even an 8 the story was OK as well as the co-op, but multilayer is KILLER its insanely good. Yeah some stuff you mentioned about the multilayer is true. Al thought, again I feel like your picking the little stuff out. So as of right now to me your on your knees with MW3's co*k is in your mouth. Until I read your review and I see that it is honest and you mention that its THE SAME GAME like an expansion the story is so convoluted, the computer partners retarded and the online will fun still has campers, noob tubers, cheaters, hackers, game-breakers, immature raciest kids, KIDS like 10 years old, and it's the exact same thing as MW2 with new guns and new perks. Then I'll change my mind about your review strategies. Because screwattack.com was THE ONLY website to seem to have LOVED Black OPS according to your review so I am thinking this is biased your a COD fan- boy, therefore making your reviews worth shit to us.

Jared

November 2, 2011 - 1:05pm

Take every complaint you have about the Call of Duty games. ALL of those apply to Battlefield 3.

I also didn't review Black Ops. That was Craig. I have a much different opinion on it than he does. You also have a very critical opinion on Modern Warfare 3 despite never playing it.

SnipeGod91

November 2, 2011 - 3:16pm

True I have not played but, I have played 2 and 1 which is basically the same thing, well to each his own then. I'll be back to check out YOUR opinion on MW3 and see if you are just another fan-boy.

I had hope for this title, but it sounds like another disappointing FPS, but that's just me. It's nice to hear that the multiplayer will be worth the time and money, but if that's all the game was gonna go for in the first place, then why bother adding in the single player campaign and co-op modes at all? I don't mind it when FPS games have mutliplayer online modes, that's just a common move for the genre and a good one, but when did it start becoming routine to just say "...oh, there's also a single player mode that probably won't last a single night, but its there"?

Super Mecha Death Christ

November 1, 2011 - 3:01pm

How can you say that the single player campaign was dull? I thought that the action was intense, the characters wasnt that bad, the story was interesting to follow and i couldnt wait to see the end. Dont you think you are being too harsh, or maybe you think you are more professional than you really are?

Matsemann08

November 1, 2011 - 12:09pm

Screwattack said when they relaunched the site that they would not review games like other sites, were a 8.5 is an average game and a 7 is almost as bad a game as you can get. 7.5 is in the middle of 5 and 10, average and absolutely perfect

ChicanoX

November 1, 2011 - 2:01am

I don't know why they people keep giving the story crap is actually pretty good, multiplayer is almost as fun as the one in Killzone 3. I give it 9 just cause of servers have a lot problems. Buy it.

Funny how people have already decided that Jared's going to give COD:MW3 a higher review score... Then rage about BF3's respectable 7.5. Play whatever suits you best.

I think one of the biggest mistakes ScrewAttack's ever made is include number scores. There wouldn't be outrage like this if it was just given a "Buy It!"

October 31, 2011 - 3:05pm

I disagree with your point about Infantry being useless on large vehicle maps. I've been playing Battlefield since 2007 and I strongly believe that one of the most exciting parts of the gameplay is taking down a helicopter of a tank with sheer skill and wit.

TNC420V.2.0

October 31, 2011 - 2:57pm

Fighting over vehicles? Fuck I wish. Every damn game I go into on PS3 nobody touches the vehicles but me so we end up getting raped by choppas and jets the whole round. I'm the only one running out there with a stinger or something trying to take these guys out and the rest of my team is running around trying to get kills. Fuck I top the chart most of the time and all I do is heal, revive and cap flags. I'll get like 3 kills and 5000 points.

Sega_Fanatic

Every FPS is better on the PC as on the Konsole thats a fact : Servers better Controls ...... list goes on! Battlelog is shit ass hell! I don't care about singleplayer on BF3 and COD! But it is a way better game than COD!

I know all we hear is 'This game isn't anything new' but I for one have already had my fill of military FPS games after one so I see no appeal in this release.

I really respect Jared and his reviews, altough I find the game freaking awesome. However your points are accurate and very, very valid. Good job, dude. Even when i disagree, I agree.

The military FPS game is nothing more than mediocre. Nothing surprising here...

What many Battlefans will fail to realize, that very much like Call of Duty, there has been a Battlefield game released every year, and yet they complain about CoD being released every year. Blowing up buildings is also not new anymore, it was new 3 games ago. Yes, they are improving it, but blowing up walls to get to snipers or making new doors was new in 2008. Bad Company 2 added co-op before BF3, and why does the BF series need TDM? It's supposed to be all about Conquest and vehicular warfare, not infantry skirmishes. They should have made Bad Company 3 instead, I really enjoy the characters.

Origin wasn't so bad.., Screwattack are just CoD fanboys...

At no point did I discuss Origin in the review.

dayoda191

October 30, 2011 - 8:12pm

Look i got no problem if you guys feel that it only deserves a 7.5 im fine with that. But if you give modern warfare a 9 or something i will be pissed. There both have the same problems except for battle log But that is not worth that huge drop in score.

October 31, 2011 - 12:35am

well u havent played mw3 yet so please stfu

October 30, 2011 - 7:33pm

I guess I ain't buying BF3 until I get a supercomputer. By then, hopefully Battlelog should perform better, hopefully. I never liked getting FPS' on consoles. TPS is fine.

October 30, 2011 - 6:46pm

What did we learn from this review; Play FPS on your PC goddamnit.

CrazyDuck

October 30, 2011 - 5:53pm

The racing fro vehicles still has not changed from the early BF days I see.

And I KNEW that that damn Battlelog web thing was going to be a disaster. I wanted to try the Beta but if you're "awesome & inventive" new system is stopping a lot of players from just booting the damn game, you have a problem ...

Was looking in to getting this maybe but the damn battlelog is what broke the deal for me

Schmooblidon

October 30, 2011 - 4:11am

i dont care for this game

GamerSpawnling

October 29, 2011 - 11:27am

lol wait for MW3 then we will see the score for that, It's going to be interesting I will admit

Nemo SomeGuy

October 29, 2011 - 11:05am

Is it worth the investment to score this kind of games separately on single/multiplayer mode and console/PC version? So technically you guys aren't reviewing one game, you guys are essentially reviewing 6 games.

This game is just okay in single player on console, but amazing in multiplayer on PC. Should there be separate score for them? It seems Jared's reviewed is one overall score for all components.

October 29, 2011 - 9:53am

I get about 1-5 minutes of gameplay before it crashes. Ive tried just about everything...ive even contacted costumer care but they couldn't help me either. FUUUUUUUUUUU

Payne

October 29, 2011 - 8:46am

If i had a good PC I would so buy since that's where Battlefield has always been better. Now don't get me wrong, i'm a console gamer all the way but everytime i play ANY Battlefield at a friends place on PC i love it. Then i play the console version and i'm underwhelmed.

Pirate-Ninja Coalition

October 29, 2011 - 9:17am

heh i have the exact experience in opposite deriction. I only play real fps on my pc, and i was iffy about getting this after i saw it on a console in a store. But after seeing it on a (monster) pc, i was sold... The console version looks ok, but the pc version looks very impressive.

OVERSKY

October 29, 2011 - 7:12pm

"The console version looks ok, but the pc version IS very impressive." - Fixed.

ErgoProxy1234

October 29, 2011 - 8:25am

since the game is 75% multiplayer, i'll say its almost 100% for the important part! while i agree racing for vehicles can create frustration( like finally winning the race to have the jet being blowned in your face by an angry engineer' rocket), it at least bring some variety to looking down the scope of a rifle. hints for noobs: spot ennemies if you can't kill em yet and play as medic or engineer do gain massive amounts of points. it worked well in Bad Company 2

DominatorPatrick

October 29, 2011 - 7:37am
