Isaac has to finish what the markers started, but is this a fight worth finishing?

7/10 - Good
7 - Good: 7s are very fun that has solid appeal. They have obvious issues that stick out, but can still be enjoyed by anyone.

While the microtransactions thing may not have been the best idea, the idea of all of those modes sounds interesting. Thanks Bryan!

Great review, I like your style

I own the first game and got near the end before forgetting about it , time to find it dust it off and finish it, then rent 2-3 to finish the trilogy.

I can't believe that people are bitching about the action focus when there is an original Dead Space difficulty level. Odd that this is the only review that even mentioned it . . . On the usual 10 score scale I would say this would be a 9 with all those game modes.

I liked the first one, but didn't like much of dead space 2, so this is a miss for me, at least until it drops in price. Looks a fun TPS though
They Call Me The Fizz
For a series so indebted to the Alien franchise, it only makes sense for the third installment to be as confused directionally and muddled in its execution as its counterpart...

I haven't finished my first playthrough of 3 (EXTREMELY CLOSE), but I love the changes (most of them). Scavenging for parts/upgrades beats out power nodes. Like Byran said, between you and the bots, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting what you need. The action roll is actually quite handy, mostly against necromorphs. They take a while to actually hit you if they're close up, gives you just enough time to evade and counter.
The 2 weapon slot thing does annoy me though. Granted I've been doing dandy with just my upgraded shotgun and plasma cutter, it would've been nice to have one more slot If just to avoid having to switch out one of my main weapons just to test out a new gun. Also, some puzzles (one in particular and those who played should know which) could've used a little more explanation. Other than that, I love it.

NO SPLITSCREEN.
WHY.
Moon Spirit
My only gripes with the game are this: two weapon loadout, terrible save point/checkpoints, and some parts of the game is a bit formulaic.
Other than that, I just finished with this game, I say this was a really great game. I can't wait to play this in classic mode, then new game plus, and so forth.
Bottom line: I used to think, "this isn't Dead Space, therefore I ain't buying." But after playing the demo, and finishing this game, I don't regret playing this game at all.
Bryan
I didn't think the two weapon loadout was a problem at all. In the first two games I stuck to the Plasma Cutter and Line Gun anyways, the other two guns just took up space.
Moon Spirit
True, but it kind of was a bummer to me, since I could play just like in Borderlands and have the following: default gun, crowd controller, quick killer, and my last one could be either an overkiller or whatever like a flamethrower or rifle.

Good review Bryan you are quickly becoming my go-to for fair, unbiased reviews. Gonna have to skip this one though, I refuse to play any game with micro transactions unless it is a free to play game. Whether or not it is required or for convenience is a moot point to me, this is a trend in games that needs to be put down before it becomes standard fare.

Very well written Bryan!

Excellent review Bryan.

I played it. Didnt have any issues with it really. Story wasnt brilliant. But it was a good end to a trilogy. It wasnt scary.. but neither were the other 2.
Wish there was more space exploration. That was cool.

HEY...I see me in that review.
I did enjoy this game, people bitching and moaning about "OH IT ISN'T DEAD SPACE!" Chances are...haven't played through the game. Does it have it's faults, yes... but it's still a good game and if you're a fan of Dead Space 1 and 2, then Buy it. There's plenty of Unlockables and Collectables to keep this game fresh.
Hardcore mode- Hard difficulty, you die once, you start over. Classic mode- Hard Difficulty, Only use Dead Space 1 and 2 Weapons, Single Player Survivalist Mode- Hard Difficulty, No Ammo or Health Drops, Craft Everything at a bench.
And it's also quite long with 19 chapters. Human enemies don't appear as often as you think, and Co-op is fun with a friend....or Community Member and some puzzles change based on if you have a friend or not.
Don't complain about this game until you actually try it. Don't pull an internet.

People complain about a hair change in DMC, they'll complain about this; sad but true. In any case, the addition of Hardcore Mode is a very good addition in my opinion. It allows people to get the old Dead Space 3 feel instead of a more action-based focus; RE6 probably could have ended a lot of the complaints about their divergence from survival horror by implementing something similar.
