Look folks, you can say this game has glitches till the cows come home; but bottom line: I'm having fun and that's something a lot of games can't say the same for. And don't be blinded by people telling you it's lousy in single player; I play it in single player and I feel like I'm in a horror game because danger always surrounds me and I have to know when to run.

The recent update fixes a lot of the problems that plagued the original release, also, that glitch, you're supposed to just jump down the elevator shaft to the top and go through the hatch.

It's a great game on Co-op, analogue aiming is satisfying with weapons like the cleaver or Ripper, the special zombies that appear after you get off the resort are a challenge, and guns eventually do have more of a use.

It is worth another try after the recent update.. There's also DLC planned for wave survival modes for online, which with a few friends could be a great laugh.

Oh, and for the people commenting below me, the "Buy it, Rent it, F**k it score is still there, its just under the video now.

screw numbers to "score" reviews for games i want the right way to tally a game's worth back rent it buy it or fuck it......

September 19, 2011 - 6:18pm

ima go ahead and skip this....funny how a trailer can gave u something different then the game

yuna66

October 10, 2011 - 12:44pm

Yeah; for an emotional trailer...the game had quite a lack of it. At least the trailer shows how to efficiently create hype for a product.

metalmonster13

September 18, 2011 - 3:41am

All I thought well playing this at a mates house was meh. Also, what happened to the Ol' Buy, Rent and F it scores? I honestly thought that was the best way to measure a game rather than give it a numbered score like bloody IGN or Gamespot or every other site that reviews games.

Oh wait, now I see it.

i like the game, i give 8.5 for the game, but, i kinda like zombie games so i am sellout for that, but it still a good game.

abwlprg

September 15, 2011 - 11:43pm

Sigh I had high hopes for this game. The trailer had me sold but the game just looks and has nothing to do with the trailer.

joeyclemenza

September 21, 2011 - 6:32pm

that's not neccesarily true.....where the graphics are obviously not up to the level of the trailer, the trailer told us a perspective story line that sets you up for the premise in the game. i mean, did you really think the game was going to be about a little zombie girl who eats her parents?

Quark

September 15, 2011 - 6:28pm

Jeez, this is like the first review of this game I've actually agreed with. xD I'm literally shocked by how many positive reviews I see for this game while it's complete garbage (imo).

I guess this is why Screw Attack does some of my favorite reviews, since they always come off as sincere. I just wish you guys did MORE of them. :B

Bonidex

September 15, 2011 - 1:24pm

I got a little disapointed about this game release... specially being a pc owner, where people say the bugs are multiple.

Endre86

September 15, 2011 - 5:53am

I really miss the simple "Buy It", "Rent It", "F* It" scores :|

Quark

September 15, 2011 - 6:31pm

They still have them. :D Just look down where it says "ScrewAttack's Rating" and it has their number in addition to the Buy it, Rent it, or F it... though it would be cool if they had it in the actual video as well.

BigmanQ

September 15, 2011 - 6:17pm

its not like they are gone, they just on top of it have a true 10 point scale.

for example dead island is a slightly above average game.

SuperCartman

September 14, 2011 - 11:03pm

I just need to say this game is amazing not since Alan Wake have I played a game for 8 hours straight on a console

I got this on day of release in the UK and I've not been able to put it down since! Freakin love this game! Dose have its problems, and can get a bit frustrating at times, but over all just finding it very enjoyable.

JJCobra

September 14, 2011 - 4:33pm

Thankfully I experienced no major glitches or bugs while playing the game on PS3. The worst that happened to me was every so often I'd locate something like a bag floating 6 inches off the ground.

Moon Spirit

September 14, 2011 - 10:42am

Yeah, looks about right, but Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas was plenty buggy, and I like both titles. I guess this didn't follow that latter, but I gotta rent it to truly determine if this is worth anything.

Oh BTW, nice new production guys. Looks a whole lot more professional!

Hynieth

September 14, 2011 - 8:01am

Awesome game, been playing it for a while now on my PS3, yes there are popin issues but only for the first few seconds after entering a new area (and areas are huge) the Melee combat is the best I've seen in a First person game and at least they dont try to make the plot feel deep. So I say buy it and prepare yourself for zombie apocalypse!

Dark Wisdom

September 14, 2011 - 2:51am

What a disappointment... I was really looking forward to this one... The wait for the ultimate zombie survival RPG thingy continues

solud_snake

September 14, 2011 - 2:11am

Looks like I'll pass on this one.

CoffeeBlack

September 14, 2011 - 3:40pm

To be honest I don't agree with this review, I think that the fun to be had with the game far outweighs a lot of the problems especially since a lot of the things mentioned in the review have already been patched and many people giving this game a lot score did so based on a buggy review build. If you like open world RPGs and zombie survival I would check this out, if you are playing it on console you can always rent it to try it.

Just remember that reviewer opinions are just that, opinions. You can take into account the points stated in a review when you are buying or renting a game, but it's best if you try it and form your own opinion on the game. Remember that there are games that you might really enjoy that the reviewers on your favorite site may absolutely hate, and that some sites seem to be really harsh with their rating systems especially on certain types of games. This game has been getting mixed reviews, which means that it's probably flawed but still fun for the right person.

I got the game over the weekend because I had it pre-ordered. The game is pretty big but overall It's not really that great. A fun game to play but It gets old pretty quick. I would recommend people rent it.

MagnumStein

September 14, 2011 - 12:35am

I really like the game, It's fun and has RPG elements that keep me exploring and playing. And I guess I'm just lucky cause I still haven't ran into one of these glitches.

But to be fair this is the only zombie game I ever really given a chance and that's because the RPGness of it. Maybe when some HD remakes of resident evil games hit the marketplace I'll have a new game to compare other zombie games to, and until then it's this one.

As an Australian i cant stand the accents they put on. They are just terrible

And as a Kiwi it's amazing

JinjaBredMan

September 13, 2011 - 10:47pm

Picked it up over the weekend... the game is fun and better than expected, though the technical issues are there. Also beware if you get a ps3 copy of the game, the patch that was released over the weekend screwed up the auto-save feature when connected to PSN and leaving your game public. Until Techland fixes it, you have to leave your game offline and change the lobby over to single player if u want anything to save.

I was one of the few that was around on the orignal Dead Island forum back in 06 when it first got announce and i have been following it since then. Being a Massive Zombie fan this game was high on my list for a more realistic zombie game where guns are harder to get your hands on and you gotta think about what you have to do.

After acutally getting and beating the game myself with the PC version I can say that this is almost everything i wanted to get out of the game, with the problems i have with the game mostly being with the most stupid only Auto Save and Auto Mic.. like really what game now a days doesnt give you the option to manualy save your game either with the pause menu or at a safe house, as well as a way to be able to mute your mic or have a push to talk option. Other Problems i have with the game tend to lead towards not being able to have a chatacter of my own, shaped in my own appearance and things i think i would be able to do in real life, but then this is a game after all.

Anyways, tho i dont toatlly agree with the review Jared did, he had a lot of points and the Above Average rating is good rating for it. i had a blast with the game, and will be still playing it in the future. and being a massive zombie fan it rates up there to be the best Zombie Based game ive played, second to a Half Life 2 mod called Zombie Panic, hell that game has stolen about 800, hours of my life.

For me, this game is a 8.5/10, only losing marks in its stupid saving and mic settings, and the minor graphic and game glitches (which everygame i have played has some sort of in it)

I just hate this over saturation of Zombies in everything...and this was probably the weakest showing for Zombies in the realm of gaming

They Call Me The Fizz

September 13, 2011 - 8:21pm

Frankly, I'm just thankful it didn't turn out like Techland's last game...

theentertainmentguy

September 13, 2011 - 7:56pm

It just needed some more time even though it had a lot.

JJ-kun

September 13, 2011 - 7:34pm

to be honest I was expecting a crappy game, but it was ok.

Meta Scourge

Glitches can be patched.

Buy it.

SnipeGod91

September 13, 2011 - 5:56pm

this game was good IDK what this dudes are on

A_Yeasty_Muffin

September 13, 2011 - 5:36pm

Honestly, most glitches don't bother me in big open world games, other than ones that make aspects of the game unplayable or if it corrupts a save file. Everyone says the game is fun, and that is what matters to me

RENDEEz

September 13, 2011 - 5:06pm

I never got the thing with zombie games. The type of game just never caught my attention. The same goes for this game. I just don't understand the hype.

Loving the new type of reviews :)

thenickexperiment

September 13, 2011 - 4:44pm

i gotta say that playing the game in single player is extremely boring. if your going to get this game make sure that you have a friend or two to play with

Ernest_Goes_To_ScrewAttack.com

September 13, 2011 - 4:40pm

The Dead island ad was better then the game itself this is why we should never fall for all the hype in fact you should be very cautious when something is advertised to much .... KNOW WHAT I MEAN
