this was my favorite game from 2011 but i still won't give it an 10. A 10 needs to be perfect and there still were some things for me that didnt make it perfect for me. The story is just 4 hours, only characters playable are sonic and classic sonic (i would like to see shadow or some other characters to be playable) and there aren't alot of cutscenes like there were in unleashed and colors. But besides the short gameplay, i now played sonic generations around 100 hours. This all together made me give the game an 9.5 out of 10, but it wasn't far away from the 10.

i played it and it was even beter then what i had hope even if i did beat it very fast i still played it more then one time try out all the diffrent power like the one you get after the last boss

I never grew up with sonic. A friend of mine had a Mega Drive, but he never allowed me to play Sonic. He was playing, I was watching. That event kinda killed SEGA for me (shut up, I was a kid). Only recently did I discover Sonic, namely through Sonic Rush for the DS, which was a solid game. I kinda liked Sonic Colours, even though the level design was unbalanced. You could go from a balls crushingly hard and at times broken level to a walk in a park level. So yeah, I'm no Sonic fan.
Now thanks to Steams Weekend Sale (15€ for Generations) I bought this game. And I like it. It's a fun experience so far and I'm kinda determined to complete all challenges and stuff. Haven't beaten it yet, though.

Eh nostalgia alone did not save this title. What saved this title is that Sega stop trying to make another Sonic Adventure and improved the control and stage designs. I sure as hell didn't buy this game just because classic sonic was shoe horned in the game like certain fans who claim "sonic is dead".

times? the game has multiple pathways so secret you will need to play each level a minimum 50 times before you even start to understand how in depth it actually is in terms of secrets.

I can't wait until I can grab this. Picking up the 3DS version once I get the cash. A friend of mine let me play some of it, and I watched her beat it. It was a blast! Although, I have to disagree what Sonic says to his little... erm... him at the end. Sorry Past Sonic, the future is far less kind to you than future you makes it out to be (perhaps he didn't want to make the little guy worry too much?) though this is finally a (huge) step in the right direction.

No frame issues on the ps3! I believe sonic colours, sonic 4 and sonic generation are freaking awesome games! best sonic games since sonic (sega mega drive era)

I was surprised when the SA rating said "rent it", but watching the review itself, that makes perfect sense. Now, I'm a diehard Sonic fan, so I'm buying this as soon as my PC is able to run it. Good review.

I know they said they wouldn't, but I really hope they bring back classic Sonic for something small like a downloadable title. I would even buy it if they made a downloadable title and sold it at full price. I still can't stand playing Sonic in 3D, and the side characters are horrendous.

I agree, for those who are die-hard Mario fans wouldn't find this entertaining for long. Which is why they should put the storyline in depth more. Maybe more Bosses like Mephiles and Dark gaia that were secretly involved? Or instead, what I prefer, is following the Comics; it's proven to me a more deep story for those who loves unexpecting suprises and would make a better game.

sonic fans are way more loyal then the mario fans. Sonic generations is exactly what the current sonic fanbase wanted and the people who request idea's like this would likely never buy a sonic game if it was done this way and the proof is in sonic dark brotherhood (great game for those who complain about the lack of story in sonic games that couldn't even pull in the sonic fans because it was so much against what the current sonic fans want and instead what people like you want)

Sonic Generations is really fun, but a bit short, plus a few of the boss battles the controls and camera where just less than stellar, the eight score is just definately worth the rental though

This is why I love the number system + buy or rent review style. Games can still kickass but may only require a rental. I personally bought it and plan on keeping it forever but that's because I love Sonic.

Nah. I liked it. The apparent problems everyone I know was pointing out I STILL haven't seen, im assuming im playing it differently or something... and I honestly did not notice how long the loading screens where until I played through again after I finished it.
