Black Nerd Hates Pokemon
Nintendo recently announced Pokemon X and Pokemon Y for the 3DS, which has Pokefans excited. Many thought Andre of Black Nerd Comedy would also be happy about it. But he reveals that he's actually held years of hatred towards Pikachu and friends... and it all has to do with the KidsWB?

Andre, I very much agree. Pokemon was a flash in the pan for me. Once it stopped being a fad (or even before that), I realized it was not actually that cool. ROAD ROVERS, on the other hand, was a masterpiece.
King Arthur and the knights of justice.... and Pro Stars (bet you can't remember that one) and of course Captain N the Game Masters
he right 90 was tv show best ..... street sharks rocko modern life ahh real monsters Beetlejuice cat and dog cow and chicken ren and stimpy freaky story earthworm jim and no Pokemon i hate Pokemon it kill good on gameboy..
I liked the first generation Pokemon cartoons, but after that I got tired of them.
Yes, i know all that very well now. As i said, i later learned of that genre, and that it isn't to my testosterone-ridden liking. But i didn't when i was twelve and watched it on TV, which was the whole point of my argument. I was saying that it was deceptive to trick young boys like myself into watching that by editing the shit out of it.
I grew up in the 80's watching cartoons of the era like Masters of the Universe, Thundercats, Transformers, Silverhawks, Incredible Hulk, Alvin & the Chipmunks, Go-bots, M.A.S.K., Ghostbusters, Real Ghostbusters, Duck Tales, Saturday Supercade (cartoon based on video game characters like Q*bert, Frogger, Donkey Kong, etc), Super Mario Bros Super Show, various Spider-Man cartoons, Peter Pan & the Pirates, Captain N, The Power Team, Dennis the Menace, etc as well as classics like Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies, Woody Woodpecker, Tom & Jerry, Popeye, Pink Panther, and various Hanna Barbera stuff so I don't give a crap about Pokemon. I continued watching cartoons on network TV (didn't have cable until 2011) in the early-mid 90's like Batman: The Animated Series, Tiny Toon Adventures, Darkwing Duck, Bonkers, Pinky & the Brain, Goof Troop & maybe a few others you mentioned & those you didn't (Gravedale High, Space Cats, Wish Kid, Camp Candy, Pro Stars).
I never played the Pokemon games, but I thought the cartoon made no sense from the commercials I saw of it. I think you're right that it was the boundary of old school & new school stuff since I really have never cared to watch anything "animated" that came out after Pokemon started. I watch Family Guy but have gotten incredibly bored with that show with all the over-saturation on all the TV channels it's on. I also watch American Dad, which I enjoy a whole lot more than Family Guy lately.
I don't see any of the creativity I used to see in the 80's & 90's. It's mostly Pokemon & its clones, stuff that's totally CG-based that I can't even name since I have no idea what they are or about (they may actually be good but I'm turned off by CG), or remakes of old cartoons like TMNT, Transformers, or Thundercats.
By the way, Samurai Pizza Cats came out like 5-6 years before Pokemon so please don't bundle it with that stuff.
I will say I can kinda sympathize with u(just a bit) cuz sports did to me wat Pokemon did to u(in a small sense). I was never big on the games(I only barely played 1 tho)& I cud never see wat ppl thought was so magical about it, but I FRIGGIN' loved the cartoon.. the ORIGINAL that is! I've given the newer 1s they pump out (constantly) a chance but it feels so uninspired now, like the only thing fueling it is money. 1 final thing tho, I never ever considered Yu-Gi-Oh! to be a rip-off. The only similarities I see are- They're anime & ppl use creatures to battle(god that was fan-boyish).
I sympathize with you, kind of, I love the Pokemon games, can't get enough of that shit. I hate Pokemon the show, the show sucks in my opinion. and I don't think Pokemon was the break off. I mean I might only be almost 15 but you know, I am still cultured in Modern, Retro, etc.
Oh Andre, you hate the franchise for personal reasons, not exactly for what it is. I empathize, this happened to all of us.
I don't get why everyone like Family Guy, I honestly think it sucks. I watched one episode and I literally felt myself lose brain cells! It sucked! And the fact that one guy poops whenever he hears a joke(?), that's not funny, it's disgusting.
Now I used to love Pokemon, but as I got older I drifted away from it. It was good up until it hit Generation V, which is where it went off a cliff and into great white shark infested waters and was promptly ripped to shreds. They reused ideas as for making Pokemon and frankly, the show has been too long drawn out and been turned into a major profit franchise that should start losing its fans swiftly. Frankly, Pokemon could have become a great empire of something good but it had reached its downfall as soon as it reached Generation five in the series. Oh well, I guess that's how life works; it takes away the good things in life as you get older.
dragon ball z, and teenage mutant ninja turtles 2003 vession was AWESOMR
I'd like to say that I think Yu-gi-oh now and always sucked. Alos, Pokemon had a lot of famous voice actors, and most of the VA's did the Pokemon. Like Eric Stuart voicing a Syther in the episode "Showdown in Dark City".
sad thing is network TV doesn't even have cartoons anymore, when I was a kid and well into my 20's there was both Saturday morning and weekday afternoon cartoons , hell there were weekday morning one's too,as well as others at different times on different days, now there is one block on the CW of pure crap, and I blame 4kids for all the crap not only do they continue to do terrible dub's of anime but some of the worst atrocities were in the past shaman king, one piece, and the original yu-gi-oh, just to name the biggies, but they ruined lots of good shows, hell even pokemon was pretty slap dash. But back to the point yes I do think cheap crap has killed cartoons forever, even cable is mostly a wasteland of reruns and flash animated garbage, lucky for me the internet is here now and it's bounty is limitless.
Oh, I used to love Beast Wars!
I never even noticed, but he's right! POKEMON KILLED TELEVISION!!!
Please..give it a second chance. It really does get better during the second season and the fire chapter is epic.
I HATE MY LITTLE F*CKING PONY!!! Yeah, I said it!!
To me, Dragon Ball Z is my Pokemon. Many anime/shows got shafted because of it. Not just cancelled but also ignored, badly. I don't hate DBZ, I just don't like it as much as everyone else.
It's barely a good anime to begin with because of terrible plot, repetitive fight scenes over and over again, and the infamous "one hero syndrome". But it gets a pass because fanboys like the over the top fights.
It gave "anime fanboys" too much expectations on other anime. When one anime doesn't have over the top battles in the first episode, people criticize the anime completely without giving it a chance. So many good animes get shafted because of DBZ, especially ones that has excellent stories and characters.
Never liked the Flinstones or Scooby Doo. Always considered those as dumb and unfunny even when I was like 6 or 8 years old.
