Die Hard 5 had John McClane drive a jeep out of a helicopter and a dude get thrown into said helicopter's spinning blades. I'm just saying.

My Five-Word Trailer Response:

Zero sparkling vampires? Good call.

Good job. Just one thing I can actually comment on.

I don't believe that the new Die Hard deserves a 3/10. I'd give it a 5 border 6/10. I mean you guy are right on some points like the boring exposition and semi-obvious plot. However, I believe that you gave this a lower rating than it should have because you're comparing it with the Die Hards of old. I can say this because its my first time seeing a movie from the series and its easy to see where the director was going with this. Its a transition between the old action movies to modern ones like the move from 2d to 3d games during the PS1-N64-S.Saturn(?) era. The movie was full of shots on old movies where people goes in without a plan and shoots everyone up (there's actually a dialogue saying that and I'm paraphrasing) and Jack giving John a sawed-off shotgun. There are also these moments where John's looks totally says to Jack "Yeah, your dad still got some tricks".

What I'm saying is that most I was hearing from your reviews is you guys comparing the new movie to its predecessors and I'm saying you shouldn't do it like that. What I saw in that movie was something like in MiB1 with John training Jack like K did with J.

On my scale, it'll be: 5/10 in action, 5/10 in dialogue/plot/etc., and 7/10 Balls so I'll give it a 5.5/10. I think that's a much more reasonable score.

I see your point clearly, however the problem is that Die Hard is a series that is well known for having created some of the most memorable action scenes of all time, as well as some of the most diabolical villains ever. To not compare the movie to it's predecessor would be a misstep, considering it's the fifth movie. There's no excuse if you mess up a fifth installment of a franchise.

Secondly, even if your complaint was perfectly valid, the movie still has terrible action, a terrible villain, and a terrible plot. Even on it's own merit, this movie is still faltering in those areas.

Would the score have been higher of it wasn't Die Hard? Yes. Would it be substantially higher? Not really.

Well, I guess its the same thing as Duke Nukem.

I see or rather hear what you are trying to do with the old news sound effect but it sometimes made it hard to understand.

Other than that I really liked it :)

Yes, don't worry, I plan on fixing it.
