The Top 5 Video Games from my childhood
As a kid from the 80's and 90's, I didn't have internet or magazines to see what games were worth playing. I just played the games that I got from friends and family.
In this video I show you the games that shaped my childhood, and I also wanna hear from you what games shaped yours. Why were they important to you and what did you love them so much?

Let's start from top to bottom: WarCraft 2 hands down, I still love to quote the voices of the units. I played it solo campaign and custom, local multiplayer but never Battle.net because we didn't really have Internet during those years. I played it so much that I remembered every starting place for every color in every custom map because before the expansion your starting place was fixed by your color. I wasn't allowed to check the color of other players when we were playing multiplayer.
Next up Monkey Island 2. How I loved this game! I was still just a little kid and didn't understand everything but it really helped my English a lot (I'm from Finland). This is one of the few game series of which I have played every game from start to finish. I even have Guybrush as my avatar on Steam.
Super Mario Bros 3 will also get its name here. I remeber my sore thumbs when I beat this game the first time. From start to finish, no flutes or anything. Just pure button smashing in one day.
Command & Conquer: Tiberium Dawn was one of the first games that I really learned to play by my own or what I remember. I used to watch my big brothers play this game and I was always moaning that they should play it so I could watch. One day they told me to learn to play it so they don't need to entertain me and I'm glad I did. We also got Red Alert and my brothers installed it on the school computers so we could play together there.
The last place goes to a more unknown game, the Settlers also known as Serf City. I actually never played this game from start to finish, I always started a new game or played with my friend. He used a mouse and I used a joystick. Yes, a joystick. It was the only way that we could play together so I grabbed the stick and mastered it. It wasn't until last year I put a closer to this game and cleared all its 30 levels.
Here are some games that are also close to my heart from childhood: Pokemon from Yellow to Ruby/Sapphire, Link to the Past, Shatterhand, UFO: Enemy unknown (didn't know a shit what I was doing in this game), StarCraft, Colonization and many more.
Whoa, that was a long post.

poor guy growing up without nintendo.. My list would probably be Legend of Zelda Link to the Past, Final Fantasy VII, Suikoden 1 and 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Pokemon Red. I grew up with SNES, PS1, N64 and Gameboy colour :)

Starcraft, Super Mario World, Super Mario Cart. Pokemon Yellow and Silver. Oh yeah, C&C and WC2 and SCBW. Kirby's Dream Land... My playthroughs were about 20 min...

My childhood games are more recent. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Halo, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, Shadow of Colossus, and Pokemon Ruby.

I think Super Mario World would be mine. I would beat it, and come back to it like 3 months later. Its just one game that for some reason I cannot get tired of.

dude, I've played Kirby's Dreamland on the gameboy so many times as well! I wrote down my top score in a book and have beaten it multiple times
