great episode guys, didnt know the N64 had a lot of racing and 2D and half? shooters, Majora mask can be annoying but it fun like other zeldas
I won't argue that the presentation is wooden/robotic; I just don't think people have to be such dicks about pointing it out. But like you said, it's the Internet.
^^ This comment made me lol.
Don't expect rationality. That might be asking too much.
Anyway, I honestly think the only reason they're making such nonsensical complaints is because they found the hosts so sleep-inducing. Call it an implicit non sequitur.
You're incredibly rude sir. Please don't communicate with me any further because frankly you've done nothing but attack me personally, of which I did not to do you nor any one else.
TL;DR of my previous comment: you're pretentious, please don't "help" anyone in the future.
^ exactly, I wasn't trying to be a major dick. Swear to god, next time something like this happens I'm just going to ask if they like Justin Beiber. When they say no, I'll have them go post it on the Justin Beiber forums or whatever for his fan club, and then they can see how over kill this is. The comments are a section for both compliments and complaints. It is literally to comment on the video. My comment was negative, but not once did I attack them. I simply told them why I felt like it was bad. My harmless comment apparently pissed the entirety of screwattack off, and thus I'll just leave it at that...for being my favorite community, some of these people really aren't what I thought they were.
TLDR. Go white knight someone who cares please.
^ mad respect.
And there you go being pretentious and thinking you only provided constructive criticism. There's a big difference between what you said and something that can actually be used to improve the show. Tell me, how is saying "I will never watch this show again" constructive or supposed to help make a better show? Imagine you make a blog and then people come in there and tell you that you're full of shit and that they'll never read anything you ever make again, saying nothing but why they hated it and not how to improve. Your reaction is more than likely going to be, "Well screw them." or, "Fine, screw blogging."
Let's say that ScrewAttack puts up a top 10 list on GameTrailers and someone comments on it saying that they hated it. They hated it because Craig sounds like a douche, they didn't like whatever game he thinks should be on the list, and included too many RPGs or something. Going further he says that it's the only video he's ever seen and he never plans on seeing another. Now tell me, do you honestly think that there wouldn't be a lot of g1s pouncing on that person to tell them to be more open-minded and not base their opinions of an entire show on one video?
I'm not saying the video was perfect. I don't like what they think of the Zelda games and I think that Kirby 64 is one of the best of the series. But you know what? I don't let that ruin it for me. Of the games they talked in depth about I hardly knew a thing about them, which is what Game Sack does: they don't tell you about games you've heard a million times, they tell you about the games you probably haven't played. Go figure, most of us didn't play many racing games on the N64.
And I'm not upset over your opinions, I'm upset at your blatant hypocrisy; namely acting like a prick while pretending to be constructive as you're telling someone their presentation was bad.
Hi there, Broseidon. You took a substantial amount of time to write your complaint about our silly show so I figured the least we could do is give you a response. First of all, thanks for watching! Our wooden delivery is often the first thing newcomers complain about. We're aware of it. We just suck at delivering our lines. We make fun of it on the show quite a bit, actually. Ever played Shenmue? Yeah, we trained their voice actors. However I see a lot of videogame-related shows out there with even worse delivery than ours. I think it would be overkill to be gushing with emotion over each game. Not every game is worth being passionate over. We were not children when the N64 came out, we each bought the system with money we earned ourselves working actual, real life jobs. While you may have grown up with the N64, not everyone else did.
Yes, we like racing games. So what? While I had the N64, that's mostly what appealed to me. I don't know why you think we dislike Zelda. One of us got a bit bored with it, the other didn't. We both say we loved A Link to the Past. Zelda is not a game that is worth covering in-depth because countless other shows and blogs and what have you already have. People already know about plenty about that particular Zelda. We originally didn't even want to include them or Super Mario World, but we had to at least acknowledge them while explaining that it wasn't necessary to cover them in-depth in an episode like this. We also didn't want to regulate them to the montage. We recognize that they are absolute staples on the system, but do you really want to hear more about a game like Ocarina of Time or perhaps something else that doesn't get as much attention? Many people who never even owned the system probably know plenty about these games because you can't really avoid running into a plethora of information about them on the internet.
As for barely touching on half of the games we talked about, well, that is by design. That's the montage. Usually we don't talk about the games in the montage AT ALL. We just pick a piece of music and show 4 or 5 seconds of gameplay before switching to the next game. That method never got even one complaint. But honestly, that's not as interesting as giving tiny capsule opinions of the many games included. The reason we have a montage in the first place is to quell the "You didn't include such-and-such a game that I really like" complaints. Maybe we should go back to the music-only style of montage? The games we talk about in more depth are the featured games, but even those aren't to be taken as full-fledged reviews. If they were, then we'd only cover 1 game per episode and most other shows out there already do that. To be honest, that kind of show often bores me. This episode is simply looking at the N64 as a system and some of its games. Not all of its games, but the ones we found interesting for one reason or another. Kind of like when the AVGN talks about anything Sega-related. He's so completely uninformed that it's ridiculous, but I know where his heart lies and I don't fault him for it.
First you complain our show is too long and then you complain we should go into more detail. If we went into as much detail as you'd like for each game, then the show would be 3 hours long. People would still complain that such-and-such a game was left out. Sometimes sacrifices must be made. Remember, we're showing what the Nintendo 64 has from our perspective, not reviewing each game in depth. Our show has never been about in-depth reviews. You even go out of your way to complain about the description of the show which I had to actually search for and don't even remember writing. This shows me that you were purposely looking for more stuff to complain about and thus leads me to take your complaints with a grain of salt. Some other guy on here said something like "I'm not ever going to play racing games again because of you guys". That's silly, absurd and clearly troll bait, but it made me laugh.
The bottom line is that no one is forcing you to like our show and it's fine if you don't. Your reasons are valid. Why they seemingly cause so much emotional rife in you is a bit beyond our comprehension, but it's the internet and everything must be ExTr3m3!!!. But we don't try to please everybody and having every game-loving individual on the internet like our show is not one of our goals. That's impossible. We'll always have our fans and our detractors just like any other show out there with a decently-sized audience will. And you know what? That's fine. You felt the need to write a hefty response instead of just passing the show over. We sparked some sort of passion in you. We did our job. But thanks anyway and we're always looking to improve, and we will keep doing so!
I won't lie I posted a negative comment on this video, but when I did it I did so not out of any sort of rage. It was more or less just me why I didn't like the show. The few things I did like didn't warrant any sort of complimentary comments. The show is just like any other of its sort, and it doesn't bring anything new to the table, and while you can tell they really put a lot of effort/time into making the show, it really isn't all that great. It's good work, and if they have fun doing it hell yeah! Keep going, but those who are mindlessly defending them saying great work...guys...be realistic. I love being kind to my community, but I also feel that people should be honest.
Only problem I found is that there were alot of racing games. I'm not complaing through, but the amount of racing games in comparison to other games was like 1/2 haha, atleast they admited it. But still I liked how they put alot of 3rd party titles, Most lists are usually boring because you can already expect everything in its list, This video actually told me about some games I didn't know exist. Good Job :D. Don't really like their opinion on Banjo, but its their opinion not mine. I still think the Banjo series has one of the most memorable melody's.
Actually I pointed out the reasons why I disliked it, and left it at that. I don't beat around the bush, and if this is a vast improvement on what they had been doing, then I assume they have been working on it which is fine. Though if the length is there for quality my points are all very much valid, and they should take some time to really read what I said, take it to heart, and try to apply it.
When you put yourself out there you have to take the bad with the good. My opinion, is my opinion. When I said I wouldn't be back to watch, I meant it, however I meant it as a regular viewer. In time this could be a really fun, and informative show, however as it is it needs a lot of work, and so I left my laundry list of complaints. Even apologized at the bottom explaining that it was just my thoughts on how they could make this into something a little better.
The thing is that when a person makes a show it doesn't just become their show, it is their show, any one who sponsors it in any way, and of course it then belongs to the viewer. I'm glad you got so upset over my comment because clearly you don't see my point of view, and hell I admit I didn't really see it your way either. Hopefully we both learned a thing or two about opinions, and how every one has one. Hopefully we both learn that the internet is a place where people don't give a crap. Finally hopefully we learned that it is easy to say you don't like something, but it is hard to explain why, and even harder to say that you DO like something.
Let it be known that I was only trying to say my piece about this show, that I simply didn't enjoy. To all those who want to as I call it "White Knight" the shows hosts, by all means do so. However unless you have something to say to add to my point, or you have a valid point against it other than "Well you do better than them!" etc. Please don't bother. The equipment they use to make these videos would cost me more than my puny Best Buy check could handle, and frankly I would rather put that to bettering the world, rather than making yet another nostalgia based video all by myself.
you guys have nice soft voices, please put bedtime stories on audio-books for me...
My issue with most of the comments here are best explained by PhantomExdeath's comment above, "the comments on this video can be summarized as such...
1) They didn't like the game I liked as much as I liked it..RAAGE
2) They like a genre of gaming I don't like...RAAGE
3) I'm gonna insult you now because of reasons 1 & 2"
Besides, just about everyone here already knows about Mischief Makers, Mario Party, Zelda, and Banjo Kazooie already. People are raging because of all the racing games in this episode and not enough about games people already know a lot about because of all the content that's already been made about it. So they're angry that Dave and Joe aren't making an episode to tell them about games they already know about? If they did then that really won't make their content much different from all the other videos and blogs on said games?
My God, a comment with actual thought. You win an Internet good sir!
Lol the comments on this video can be summarized as such...
3) I'm gonna insult you now because of reasons 1 & 2
Please, people wtf... can't you watch a video and not resort to fanboyism? Meh Children.... Anyways keep up the good work Joe & Dave! Production quality of the videos is getting better every episode :)

Two guys from Denver talk about videogames, mostly retro. Definitely the 4th or 5th... maybe even the 6th best Youtube show ever!
