Maybe it's just because it was the first Megaman I was introduced to, but I actually really liked the Battle Network series. I mean yeah, it had times where you had to do some annoying little jobs in the game, but overall I thought it was a pretty good series.
But Megaman does have a cart racer. In fact its an unlockable on the Megaman X Collection. Its called Megaman Battle & Chase.
The Worst Megaman games? That's a matter of opinion to many, but I know for a fact that I did not enjoy Megaman Soccer, and I did not see a point to it and this is coming from a long time Megaman fan who has been with the series since it came out, heck it came out on the year I was born of all things.
Two of the worst Megaman games I played was Megaman X6 & Megaman X7. X6 was bad due to Japanese only voices, Inafune has no involvement in the development of the game, bad level designs that could lead you to a instant death or piss you off, the Nightmare system is more irritating than innovative, and Nightmare Zero was pathetic as a boss, only good part was fighting Gate then fighting Sigma in a epic yet easy boss battle. X7 deserves a little praise for bring Megaman to the PS2 but the graphics and 2D to 3D action and controls sucked sadly with newcomer Axl joining the Hunters with his pistols I wasn't so sure about the game, but I started to like Axl, even if he was a bratty kid, and what the HELL was up with having to unlock X as a playable character in the game, BAD MOVE CAPCOM, STUPID AS HELL MOVE! Also, I hated rescuing Reploids in X7!
The worst Mega man games, at least the ones that disappointed me the most was the Power Fighter games. Talk about lost potential. Picture Capcom, putting Mega Man in his own fighting game, but rather than a straight fighter where you get to select from not only the heroes, but robot masters as well, you get a generic boss rush mode. Talk about wasted potential. The only redeeming value was a vague connection between the classic and X series. Overall these games are prime example of overall wasted potential.
Sam looks so young in this episode.
I consider Mega Man Battle and Chase as the worst Mega Man game ever due to it being a piss poor attempt at a Mario Kart clone. The controls are terrible, and tge stages aren't fun. And people wonder why it was never released here in the US, at least not as a separate game. It did come out here as part of the Mega Man X Collection as an unlockable game, but it just sucks so bad that it's not even worth unlocking.
Anyone else skip Andre's part in the video because he's not funny? Why Andre is still on this site, other than for the obvious reason, is beyond me.
How can you say Megaman X7 ruined the Megaman X series? There was a Megaman X8 soon afterwards. It was considered "ok" and "decent" because of the lack of new innovations, but overall it was a good game. And after was "Megaman Maverick Hunter X" which was a direct remake of the original megaman X in the same style as megaman X8 (3D character and enviroment models on a 2D plane). That game was fantastic and got great feedback! ...Problem? it was a PSP exclusive. After that we all were hoping to see a Megaman Maverick Hunter X2 or something but nope, never.
And now I watch that Might Number 9 gameplay footage (which looks awesome in all it's HD glory!) and I feel myself just screaming to see the blue bomber instead. If anything, I would say that Mighty Number 9 could be the worst megaman game ever (not that it will be bad) because it literally stole the spotlight. Literally, mighty number *9*, Megaman x*9*. Of course it's probably a coincidence but the connections between the two are painfully obvious.
Imagine if Nintendo came up with a new Hero who traveled the land to solve puzzles and save the princes from evil, and it was the replacement to the Zelda franchise.
Megaman is a game series that I will always have a special place for. It's one of the series I remember as a child knowing about and wanting to play despite I never actually remembered any TV commercials or played it at a friends house. Same with Mario and Sonic. And with all good things there will be bad. I will admit that Megaman X7 was pretty bad (and frustrating, the platforming always killed me and I love platforming!) but Capcom had a chance to redeem themselves, did so, and then gave up. Shame capcom, shame.
Sam, I hope you're reading this cause you are mistaken. One it doesn't take beating all robot bosses to unlock X. A clip you showed had X fighting one of them. You need to rescue a certain number of reploids to unlock him. Secondly, X7 wasn't the last of the X franchise. There was Mega Man X8 also. If you don't like a game, fine, but please get all your facts straight before reviewing a game. :)
Worst Mega Man game for me is a tie between Mega Man X7 and Mega Man III on the Game Boy.
"That makes zero sense at all."- Craig Skistimas 2014
And I repeat Xover is far worse than all this combined….. Just sayan
My worst ever is that I never played one before.
Hey, earth to Andre, Keiji Inafune is the one who did the idea to put bad box art Megaman in SF X Tekken as a joke before he left Capcom!
Sam apparently forgot about MMX8, which was a vast improvement over 7.
Had the series continued in that model (with updated graphics, etic.), I like to think it would still be a viable franchise today.
Hell, I just want a MMX9 just so we can get some closure on that cliffhanger ending to 8.
As for Axl, he was irritating in 7, but in 9 and Command Mission, he was far more tolerable.
BTWUm Craig, I hate to be the one to tell you this but, they DID Make a Megaman Cart Racer... its called Megaman Battle & Chase.
Oh and anything other than Megaman DOS 1 & 3 (there was no 2) is wrong.
BURN BURN BURN BURN BURN TO THE GROUND
BURN BURN BURN TO THE GROUND BURN BURN
Ok this franchise has been my biggest love since y was 9 and i have played all the sagas and I can tell you this, megaman x over is by far the worst blasphemy to the magaman universe, it has all the bad things from your examples (bad controls, stupid concept, you can’t play as the blue bomber or one of the man many interesting side characters this series and is an insult on his anniversary) and ads micro transactions, absolutely no exploration, not even one original idea and if it wasn’t for mighty no. 9 this could be the last game of the magaman series to this day. So yeah this one is the bad megaman game.
But what about X8 Sam, that one was cool. I do agree with you on X7 though.
Stop shoehorning Sam into every Best/Worst Ever. He's not funny. He's annoying.
